NOS Iwasaki Tamahagane first honing, getting finished on Nakayama Maruka

In this video I’m finishing a NOS Iwasaki Tamahagane straight razor for the customer.
All NOS Iwasaki razors come “shave ready”, but the factory edge can always be improved for sharpness and for a more comfortable shave.
The customer`s preference was a Japanese Natural Whetstone feeling so I`m using the finest stone from Nakayama mine, the Nakayama Maruka!
Some Tamahagane razors, like this one, have a very hard steel and even with this Maruka, which has an excellent cutting power, takes longer than a usual razor would take to be honed.
