    You are a life savior, wife dropped our logitec M170, after that scroll and buttons were working but cursor was not moving, luckly the issue was the optical sensor that had detached. Really appreciate it mate, you saved me a couple bucks :D.

    Thank you. I just received one of these I had ordered and had no idea where the receiver was. My previous mouse, a larger Logitech but I don't know the model number has been having issues with its right button the past week so I need a replacement.
    Edit: Oh the older one was an M510.

    how do you remove the cover so easily

    • @LeonAnavi
      @LeonAnavi  10 месяцев назад

      Do it carefully step by step. Remove the cover and the battery. After that take a moment to identify the 3 clips. After that pull them outward/away from the center as show in the video (this is the tricky and annoying part of the teardown as you may break a clip if you pull hard).

    • @LeonAnavi

      Sounds as a problem with the optical sensor. Have a look at the chapter of the video with the teardown to see it on the printed circuit board.

    Have the same mouse for the same use, suddenly it started to act like the battery is dying few time a week even when I put a new battery, it still acted that way, I dissasebled it, found a loose metal part that holds a battery, it di-soldered from the board, so I soldered it back, checked every other component, all is fine, but it still acted weird the same way for a week and then stopped working at all. Have no idea what else to check, can't find any video, any guides, if you can, please help. Used it since 2020, never even dropped it once.

    • @LeonAnavi
      @LeonAnavi  10 месяцев назад +1

      It sounds like you did a good troubleshooting. This probably can be caused by various different reasons, including communication problems. Btw is the USB transmitter still properly detected by the OS on the computer?

    • @cry2love
      @cry2love 10 месяцев назад

      @@LeonAnavi Thank you for your response!! Seems like the Device manager detecting USB, also disassembled the mouse, looked closely, and found some patina on the metal contacts on all buttons of the mouse, not sure if it has something to do with it working or not and the infrared optic LED does not show any light when I look at through camera lens, I remember it showed it once before but I haven't recorded it on video.
      I recorded a video of the board close up, maybe it will help, if link does not work, it is the last video on my channel uploads:

      @@cry2love I see patina on some of the solder joints on the PCB of the mouse in your video. This is a bad sign. Are any of the buttons of the mouse working?

    • @cry2love
      @cry2love 10 месяцев назад

      @@LeonAnavi No, nothing is working, no life whatsoever. But it worked great, every 3 buttons (left right & middle mouse) until one day it started acting weird, turning off, like the batteries are dying and then went bye bye at all. My idea is to resolder, clear the contacts, and solder buttons back with new clean tin.

    • @LeonAnavi
      @LeonAnavi  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@cry2love you can give it a try but considering the visible patina and the low-cost of the mouse it might not worth it. Btw a few months ago a button broke on my B170 and I had to remove it and solder a brand new one but the rest of the PCB components work great.

    Im using g502 hero as my main mouse , I will get mx master 3s for the pc I use for 3D modeling but , I got the M170 for two years and it just stopped showing a mouse crosshair at all and not working it just happened in one day , so what can I do to fix it or how can I know what is the problem with it , and can I make it wired ?

    • @LeonAnavi

      double check that the drivers are ok and the mouse is detected by the OS of the computer. If it not also check the USB dongle and of course inspect the m170 for hardware issues after it has been dropped.
