When you delete the synopser, remove the half of the cowl that it plugs into. The one that covers the strut brace. 100% increase in turbo and blow off noise.
When/if you ever decide to look into other aftermarket air intakes I highly recommend the 2j racing intake, it sits in your Cowell so your constantly getting cold intake temps, and you hear the turbo noises inside the cab of the car. I have it for my fiesta st and i love it! I recommend at least checking it out for sure
I recommend the E-9289 K&N open ended filter. You're able to retain the stock airbox lid to help with sucking in engine bay heat but still get the sound of having the stock lid removed. The E-9289 doesn't advertise that it fits these cars but it's exactly the same as what you have just with the end cap being a filter as well. Regardless great video and sounds great dude👍🏻
Hey mate, I'm a bit late to the party, however just got a focus that needs the e-2993 filter, saw your comment. Had a look online and it looks like this 1 is a bit smaller, was just wondering if you actually put this in your car / was there any issues? Cheers 👍
@@joshtriggs9936 I got the e-2993, it's meant for the car. The open end of the other 1 would make absolutely no difference at all. I've run it with the airbox open and closed, made no difference. I had my car dyno tuned before I upgraded the filter so I can't comment on gains (it might have made a very minor improvement to responde and noise) but it's mostly just useful because it's cleanable.
Cameron. Been following you since the Mazda days. Even once upon a time sent you a video of my bugeye wrx on snapchat with a catless downpipe cause you didn't know how your sti would sound. You're a motivational and inspirational person man. But man I gotta thank you SO MUCH for the first like 10s of the video. It's so difficult to describe the sound difference when I'm explaining to friends who are debating getting an intake on their turbo cars. This video makes it so easy I've just had them watch it and they love it! Keep doing what youre doing. I love how you're building multiple types of cars. Keeps the content fresh and I love that
Love these videos man Just bought a focus st a couple months ago and my first mods were the k&n filter and boomba bov. Next mods will be a rousch intake and invidia q300. Keep the videos up!
Sean Clark I’ve got the same car with the k and n filter In but the box is still on. Does it hold in their snug? Also can you hear the BOV better? I’ve got a turbo smart BOV already so I wanna know if it gets louder
@@x3ro439 The filter itself actually snugs into place before the top of the box goes back on, you'll have 0 issues running it daily. Mine hasn't moved or needed to be adjusted at all. The open box sounds way better
You could try and cut the stock cover to make it hold down the filter like stock but hollow it out so it still let's you hear all the noise but it holds down the filter good so you don't gotta worry about it
Try putting a hose clamp where the cone filter meets the intake tubing, that’s what I have on my green filter and never had a issue of it coming off. Also I really recommend putting full aluminum cable shift bushings it makes a world of difference. Great videos man keep it up, look forward to the build.
I found that an rs intake lid is best for theses cars with keeping filter secure and also looks. And if your good with a dermal you can also cut more air holes in the front of the intake lid

I’ve got the same filter in mine with the airbox top on. It didn’t make any difference whatsoever from the stock air filter. So will definitely try removing the top too see if there’s any difference. Hopefully there is a little. 👍👍
if it ever rains in Arizona I would be a little concerned with the exposed filter like that but it shouldn’t be an issue. Water making its way up that far under the hood is unlikely
I put one in my 2015 Lincoln MKC 2.0 AWD. MAN...I wish i had done it sooner...!!! Increased HP or what at least feels like it. Plus torque. If you've got a Ford or Lincoln ecoboost engine folks GET THIS FILTER. However, DO NOT get a K&N oiled engine filter they absolutely ruin the mass airflow sensors in vehicles. Because that oil just gunks everything up. And as far as the Green engine filters are concerned that this guy mentioned. They are good but there cost is ridiculous. As i've seen them vary from around $60-90. These AEM dry flow filters are every bit as good and a bit cheaper. Just know every vehicle is different so your results in using them will vary. Some will see a major difference in HP & torque and MPGS. Where as others will only see minor results. Bottom line though is they are worth every penny and pay for themselves in a year or two considering there relatively high cost. And the fact that they don't need cleaning until 50k miles is unbelievable. So it's a "win win" all around folks.
Mine took in hot air because the tubes are aluminum or some kind of metal that absorbs the heat from the nearby engine were plastic won’t. But leaving the top off the box without blocking or shielding it from the engine you will absolutely suck in hot surrounding air
In all honesty, the Focus ST does not benefit from a CAI until you've gone to a bigger turbo. I've been running the Focus RS Air Box with an AEM Dryflow Air Filter. On a side note, you're better off running a Dryflow Air Filter vs an Oil Air Filter. Oiled filters cost more, they pass 10x more fine dust and dirt and the moment they become dirty the restrict air flow. Also, the micron ratings are higher vs a Dryflow Air Filter which are lower. The sound and flutter sounds cool, but let's be real, it's all noise and you're not going to add but maybe a HP or two swapping filters.
The green filter is much louder and better because it is open end. And people don’t worry about the filter flying out. They say u shouldn’t do it because heat soak. Just get a RS intake box lid.
Same here, especially in the summer time. Heat soaked, sucking hot air from the engine. I did notice it worked well at high speeds on the freeway, hot air doesn't get a chance to absorb under the hood.
DO you have a tip for leaving electronic stability controll off all the time? It's annoying to hold the button to turn it off everytime I start the car...
Yes ! Just leave the imposer ON ! It is NOT fake sound it is real ! it is like having a stethoscope on the air cleaner NOT fake motor sound like a BMW !
You guys should do a chevy cruze ik there not popular but I have one with zzp everything and it sounds amazing I just can't find a best set of rims to put on

You should be seeing the same numbers other than the filter, the Cobb AP, turbosmart bov, and muffler delete that I have on mine you might see a slight difference between ours cars.
@@bluexnebula6196 no, you are not over boosting. These things from the factory do the numbers I quoted, if anything you are not producing enough boost. You might have a boost leak if you aren't seeing 20+ psi in 3rd and 4th.

It won't come off... You have to make sure that you seat the lip of the filter into cutout in the lower half of the Intake Box.
Cut the top of the cover and boom rs filter cover for free or buy the rs cover either way it will keep the filter tight to oe specs

You can take off that foam pad that's attached to the inside of your hood. You will get more sound from the intake.
Rafal Dudzinski wont it ruin the paint on the hood over a long period of time?
I've had it off my st for 3 years and it has no effect on the paint. I believe it's just a sound deadening pad.
Snag a RS airbox off eBay for $50. It's a open lid design and will keep it snug. Looks really nice too.
And it says RS on it 🤣
Have that same filter on on focus SE along with the “Snorkel delete” defiantly increases throttle response a little bit
