Thanks, JP! For butterflies, dragonflies, or other creatures of that size, something like the Canon 100-500 is probably a better choice, but a real 2x macro lens is fun for creatures around 1/4" to 1/2" long.
@@PhilThach I do have a Venus Optics 100mm that I love but I also have the Canon 100mm F2.8 L lens - both are awesome. I just got out of practice. My favorite body with the Venus Optics was the M50- yes the M50!!!
Excellent review, Phil! You dove straight into the details of the lens, and those pictures look amazing as always. The price of the lens is fantastic too!
Ahhh there you are! I kept waiting for your video to come on last night (here in Australian time) but nothing came through. Then I saw you put this up on Friday by the looks. Great video Phil - the lens looks incredible for the price. You got some amazing shots. TT are sending me a lens too, but it must have got lost in the mail or something? Hopefully it'll turn up eventually, I really want to try out this lens. Thanks for the great review buddy 🙏
Thank you! Yes, I released it at 6 AM my time on Friday because that was when the lens embargo was over and I decided not to release another video today.
Hey Phil thanks for the review! You are on a roll with the macro lens reviews. It's a nice looking lens not that it matters all that much. I like the cold shoe adapter included that's a nice touch. You made some very nice images. How did you find the Z8 did overall for macro work compared to some of your other cameras? I haven't tried my Z8 for macro yet. Cheers.
Thank you! The Z8 did great, especially with these manual lenses. I pressed the plus button to zoom in and get the focus perfect and I found the position of the plus and minus zoom buttons to be great on the Z8. On my a6700 I had to program a button for this. The Z8 is the best camera I've used for macro with full manual lenses.
Your results looked pretty good. I've been wanting a macro lens for years, but still don't know when/if I'll manage to get one. I do love closeups though.
Thank you! I think for macro work they’re about the same but for all around I like the TT artisan better and it’s lighter so it’s probably a little easier for macro work but I do like the 20 extra millimeters of the previous lens I reviewed.
Wow, Phil. Excellent video mate and wonderful photos!
@@GeekyNerdyTechy thank you!
Beautiful photos Phil. The detail in a real macro lens are just astounding!!! 🤗💖

Thank you! It was a fun review to work on.
I'm working on my review video now. You captured some great photos! You're looking so healthy and well at the moment.
Thank you! I’ll look for your video.
Have you reviewed the laowa 90mm f2.8 macro too? Is this as good as that?
Macro lenses are always fun. I am glad to see more companies continue to make them ! Well done Phil
Thank you, JRod!

Thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video like always Phil

Thanks for the review.
Thank you!
Nice video Phil, The lenses are now on my radar.
What was the flash and diffuser that you used please?
@@gunsentry8349 thank you! It was a cheap generic diffuser that I bought from Amazon.
@@PhilThach Thanks, what flash gun please?

Can you recommend Nikon Zf for Macro Photography? Or do I need a higher MP Camera? Tnx
The Zf will work for macro but higher megapixels is better. There is cropping involved in these images.
HI I just ordered this for my sony a7r3.. what is that white screen thing you have , is that a light deflector?
It is a diffuser which softens the light from the flash and makes the images look better.
Those
Shots are amazing 😁. Thank you Phil
