- The difference between giving up and surrender is one word: trust.
There are so many circumstances in life that are beyond our control. We can easily feel powerless as we realize that we cannot control all outcomes. Christ's words in the Gospel might look like giving up, but they are something vastly different...and far more hopeful.

Father Mike, aka dad you made me arise from the weeds and the muck I walk in to remember I have Jesus to pull me up and if it doesn't happen their is a strong vine He will provide for me. Loving Jesus is action . Consider the lilies of the field. Wow I needed to hear this today. I didn’t not realize that I was giving up and that I was losing hope. Thank you Fr. Mike for your words of wisdom and I will again turn over everything over to Jesus and work really hard to believe that I can trust Him totally.

I also want to add what my sister and I spoke about this morning after listening to father Mike 3 minute or what ever it is … all of us need to pray for this priest because he is ministering to so many many many and he never gets a day off or to himself. His load is heavy and so many of us reap his graces!!! I am a cradle Catholic from birth and middle aged. I have learned so much and have been able to understand God’s word / scripture because Fr Mike explains things so easily for my mind and heart to grasp!!!! Dear Lord: thank you for creating and blessing the world and all of us for Father Mike. Amen!
I saved this to listen to again and again whenever I’m feeling hopeless.
I got it 1980 Lost my job Was homeless. I walked twenty miles to see my parents. They helped me. So I said with my parents until I went to a job. I Up Asking god for help I had a drug problem Jesus christ took that drug problem Away . He wasn't long after that I got a job as a hospital. As a housekeeper . And I know jesus christ helped me . I was Catholic, but I not practicing . But I am practicing Catholic now. The Catholic Church means everything to me.

Giving up it's not an option. If you give up you're not having faith and jesus christ As a Catholic christian .
Wow this is God s answer to my prayers that I have been asking God for a looooong time and God seemed to be indifferent for so long time…now I know that God is asking me to total surrender and trust and accept my Heavenly Father s love that He has for me…Jesus I accept your love.

There was a lady who was told by the world: “there isn’t any challenge you can’t overcome, cause you’re a strong person”. Sadly a few years later that lady committed suicide; her personal strength wasn’t enough to overcome the world & she was told a lie.

Life for the most part, has always felt difficult to me (62 y.o). I have known for a while that I was giving up, put didn't really know, if anything, what to do about that. This message definitely hit home for me today. Thank you.

You shouldn't give up on getting well. Surrendering to Jesus Christ and God is the message.
My Dad's doing this fatalism, bordering on nihilism. War really broke his heart. I needed to hear this Homily. Gives me ideas on how to be better help to him. I care about his soul and I care that he feels that he will get to heaven.

When you hit absolute rock bottom, and there is no hope, Trust Jesus. Then, when things don't get even the slightest bit better, praise Jesus for, in his infinite wisdom, not helping you. Because one day, you'll die.
Peace be. Jesus Commandment, " that ye love one another as I have loved you". Are men of war not understanding this commandment to date! I have to comment because when the war is physically over it is the spouse, each child of those once at war who face daily those demons of war! There are men & women walking this earth that are zombies on the inside & it is not found out until the cheeks been turn! Nonetheless, a lovely good news cast today of truth & grace Father Mike.

Fr. Mike, thank you for your powerful homily on surrender. It is what I needed to hear. I am hearing a lot on this recently which convinces me that this is what I need to do instead of giving up hope. I am so overwhelmed and frustrated because of all the problems my family have been dealing with simultaneously for more than three years - the problems just keep adding on with many remaining unresolved. That"s why I go back and forth from losing hope to trusting but I think it is not complete trust because I continue to be anxious. I want to totally surrender to God but am really struggling.
Fr. Mike, how can I to totally surrender when problems continue non-stop and happen simultaneously and I am so drained all the time?

Giving up is addiction..... Ive surrendered and reality is that after a while when there does not appear to be fruit from my trust after years of praying Divine Mercy Chaplets with my heart, giving up feels real.... When there is no reprieve despite our feeble attempts at trust after months and years, I can't help but not trust. I feel lonely and alone, so please keep me in your prayers...... and please, please don't pontificate to me. Just pray for me please

I have felt exactly as you have described so well. I'm still not on the otherwise of it, but I did, just yesterday get a little clue.... I'm not sure, I wasn't even praying at the time.... here's the upshot:
I agreed with myself & with Jesus to agree to be led thru the dark.

I think i was doing the superstitious prayer thing where i say some some prayers or Chaplets and God would take care and make everything bad in my life disappear.
