Fun Fact about the 77th Infantry Division that Desmond Doss was a part of: it wasn't filled with young men like most of the Military was as the time, but a bunch of older men because the higher ups needed data on how older men would perform in combat. They also famously had some of the most insane, borderline cruel training, so when they presumably beat the shit out of Doss, they *_definitely_* made it hurt, and the fact he didnt rat any of them out tells you a lot about who he is as a person.

I hate it when movies do that, like just tell the truth, they will take out something like that, but will add an entire bit of drama just because. You know what, now I get it, they don’t care, they just want money. And if it has something that they don’t believe, fuck it. Talking about filming as a whole. There is so much left out of the movie as Mel Gibson said if we had put it all in nobody would believe a single word of any of it. He had tuberculosis at the time of hacksaw ridge so he had to stiffle his coughing so as not not give away his location while finding injured soldiers he was diagnosed while in the V.A hospital and lost a lung to it. But that's not even half of it as he already was involved in two previous battles in the Pacific and was awarded the bronze star twice for the lives he saved in them the number of people he actually saved in the 3 battles he was involved in was closer to 300 men but he didn't want that on his medal of honour as not a prideful man he asked for just 50 to be shown but they settled on 75. He makes you want to be a better human being and his story is still taught to recruits to this day to show what one man is truly possible of doing if he really believes he can. There was a special ceremony held last year 2023 to represent this legend of a human being. May he rest in peace.

Doss faced the fury of war malnourished when he saved all those lives. His faith prevented him from eating most rations. He survived on local plants. He was starving to death and still had more strength than 100 men...

The final scene with him being lifted from the battlefield only happened after he rolled off the Gurney to give his spot to a more wounded comrade. One day he came in wearing shades and I started talking to him and he finally said "You're gonna find out soon enough." And took his shades off. He had a massive black eye. I asked what happened. He had a bunk mate that he didn't get along with. It finally came to a head and they fought. He said if his Sargent asked though he fell off his bunk. That was the actual story he told his Sargent right in front of me too. So yeah stuff like this does happen even if it isn't common.

In every military you find this kind of sadistic, babaric and completely useless behavior. And after they are done traumatizing each other at home, they get out into war. Really?!! You’re part of the problem and why the world is like it is! People need to “snitch” on those who hurt and bully others, so they won’t continue to do so!
I guess, according to you, there should be no court trials for victims of crimes because no one should “snitch” on the criminals.
Criminals “snitch” on themselves by choosing to hurt others, and they deserve their consequences! 😡

What I most love about this movie is that after averything happened to him he didn't give up and in the end in the battle he was better than anyone who used a gun

His strength of character was an amazing example to his fellow soldiers and his commanding officers. This was a very good movie, I wish it was rerun more often. Because it shows younger generations even if you don't agree with the situation there are things you can do to make it better for everyone.
