My goodness! The early days of television--and FOUR of the greats in one sketch! Sid Caesar, Steve Allen, Howard Morris, and Carl Reiner! It's like panning for gold and coming up with four solid nuggets!
All those men were the innovators. TV was in its infancy. When I look back it was a privilege to watch TV then. In the 50s we only had three stations all black and white. But the shows were good and the comedians were funny and we laughed and enjoyed ourselves at clean and clever comedy. Many thanks to all those people who made it possible. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm 74 and i remember watching this show with my parents as a kid 😂 ! My parents were born in Poland and knew some English , coming here in 1952 with little me😂 ! I'll never forget this show ! Jose Jimenez was the funniest, Bill Dana!😂😅
Remembering the inimitable Sid Caesar on what would have been his 95th birthday. Sad that he's gone, but glad that we can celebrate and remember him through the videos on this channel.
What can you say...2 of the absolute giants of very early tv, Sid and the multitalented Steve Allen...This sketch must have been from C/H, as I believe Steve didn't start the local NY version of the Tonight Show (called Tonite when it first got rolling) until 1954 and I think it went to the network about a year or so later...plus I'm not certain when Steve began the fabled "Man in the Street" sketches...but what a kick to see them together with Carl and Howie...
Steve Allen is "one of televisions most innovative comedians"? lol not even close. All he did was rework other people's ideas. He was the Weird Al of his day.

Sid Ceasar...one of the all time greats
Sid Caesar could work in the Ministry of Silly Walks.
