This would be really cool if it's a variant of Eyes that functions slightly differently, sorta like how Ambush is technically a variant of Rush with different mechanics. I get why people are saying it's just Eyes blinking or closing their eyes, but the colors look off (at least to me) and imo it just doesn't really match up.
i believe that when eyes spawns, they will have their eyes closed for a short duration as to signify that you can look at him now, and also for his teleporting animation he would probably have that too so that he doesnt just spawn on top of you and instakill you. for the argument "but the eyelids are a weird color", he has also weirdly colored eyes in general if you look at the iris hard enough, also we dont even know what his eyelids look like in the first place.
Oh yeah btw the rainbow version of eyes is currently called blurry which makes your vision more blurry the more you look at it. The longer you look the longer the blurry affect last
I think the rainbow splotches is just the color of eyes’ eyes because if you look carefully the eyes have the same color as the splotches so i guess thats just “the bottom layer” of eyes
personally i think that the rainbow sploches are actually eyes's eye color because if you look well at eyes's eye color you can see that the color of the sploches and the one of eyes's eyes are pretty much matching so it wouldn't be a new entity and it would be just an image on another image for some unknown reason, keep in mind that this is what i think these rainbow sploches are and that i might not be correct on what they are.

Now that people mention it, this is most likely images for eyes closing their eyes (a new animation probably). Still, it is pretty cool to see
It could be an eyes trail you buy with knobs in the lobby and you can equip it with an inventory button in lobby
It also fades which is another reason why it could be a trail on the player
Maybe eyes can turn into that image and you have to stare at eyes and if you look away it damages you
