I am watching this in the evening of July7th, 2022. They review James Caan in "Thief". I learned an hour ago that James Caan has died. A sad day.

Roger calls The Omen "a fairly good movie" here but back in 1976, both he and Gene had it on their Top 10 Dogs of the year lol

The Omen shouldn't have had any sequels, it was about adults fear of small children and placing the seeds of evil in positions of influence.

Horror fan or not Omen 3 is a big letdown. After "good"religion i.e. Christianity being presented as totally ineffective for the entire movie the Antichrist gets stabbed in the back by a TV reporter. Really?

While I enjoyed "ROCKSHOW" a little more than Ebert and Siskel did, based off of the music and concert atmosphere in it, I do agree that it should've had a little more commentary and storylines, based on the band itself, some of their favorite songs, and what it's like to perform a "ROCKSHOW" in front of their audience.
One of my other favorite musical movies, was with ABBA, called "ABBA: The Movie" (1977), and it almost had the same structure like "ROCKSHOW", except that it had a storyline about a radio DJ interviewing fans across Australia, and was desperate for an interview with the band itself, for his radio station.
Even so, both movies had such great music, and I admired how much each one was made to make the bands, Wings and ABBA, really stand out, throughout the late 70s.

Thief was an EXCELLENT film. I was completely engaged in the story because the writing was so good. The acting was on point, and the ending was a highlight. Just the way films are supposed to be. The Omen was a wonderful film, and each film after it slipped in quality until the Final Conflict just caused it to dwindle into loserville. This episode did not age well, since Gene (who is a LIBERAL) is so bias on the side of Hiss. Why is that a wrong thing? Well, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the KGB files (especially the Verona file) were opened and Hiss was exposed as one of their spies. So, no matter how much he protested his innocence the fact is he was lying. The Senator who was driven out of office because of his intent to expose Communist in Government, Joseph McCarthy was proven correct by this file and to this date not one single individual--in Government or out--has done anything to reclaim his reputation. Wings was a good band, marred by subpar tambourine playing.

i havent seen rockshow, mostly because hes my least favorite Beatle even though arguably the first or second most talented one. im not familiar with the Thief or Trial films. but Omen 3 is the only one i really like much of The Omen films. and as a completely non religious person and as cheesy as that very ending scene may seem, it still makes me tear up every time when those epic horns burst out and that angelic Jesus silhouette made of like beams of sunlight appears and those bible versus come on screen. it always feels powerful to me.

Regardless of how one feels about “The Final Conflict” (I personally find it and the whole Omen trilogy to be a guilty pleasure), there’s no arguing that the strength of this film, and the series as a whole, is the incredible score by Jerry Goldsmith. The Hunt in particular, is a really beautiful piece of music.

Thief: 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐ - a timeless masterpiece of a professional jewel thief who wants start a new life, only to be interfered by both the mob and the police. Everything from James Caan's performance to Tangerine Dream's unforgettable and thoroughly energetic film score, made Thief an extraordinarily creative action thriller. Easily one of the best films of 1981.
Omen III - The Final Conflict: 👎1/2 - a sad take of Damien who portrays as the US ambassador of Britain; with virtually every scene with weak attempts to even make thrills to keep the film afloat. One of the worst films of 1981
The Trials of Alger Hiss: 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐ - an intellectually engaging documentary pertaining to the accusation of Hiss being a Communist in the US. The interviews 30 years after Hiss was convicted of perjury, is as important as the conviction of Hiss in 1950. Again, one of the best films of 1981.
Rockshow: 👎⭐⭐1/2 - a music film of Paul McCartney's 1976 live show in Seattle, that has alot of memorable songs for everyone to appreciate, but it becomes uninteresting when there's backstage material, whenever McCartney needed a break for the next half of Wings's live show.
Dirty Tricks: 👎⭐ an unfunny and often convoluted film, making a pathetic fusion of comedy and thriller in terms of attempting to steal artefacts of Washington being a spy.
Earthbound: 👎⭐ - yet another unfunny film which a business owner and his grandson are protecting stranded aliens from bumbling government agents, to use as experiments.
