I just started playing randomly again bout a year ago now, but before that I had watched RUclips vids of pros and pro games for a few years lol, and I used to play from like 1999 til like 2005 or 2006 ish. However I play a lot of use map settings games so I never got used to hotkeys, so I basically only have like an apm of like 35 cuz I only really kno hiw to play with a mouse.. I kno how to play pro starts and everything but with my low apm it doesn't usually matter lol. So I played a few normal games as practice to try to start learning to play better with the keyboard and hotkeys, but everyone is so good that I never stand any chance and never really get to get any practice really.. so I end up playing more use map settings games again lol. Would you maybe like to be practice partners/buddies? Anyone?.. please? Lol
I play Starcraft since it was released. I play Protoss all the time. My strategy practically simple and just same all the time. 1. take as many bases, defend it, the resources I controlled will automatically make me the winner. M 2. I don't have to attack their bases, just station outside their bases don't let them expend easily. 3. Upgrade everything. 4. Send Observers go back and forth to everywhere to observe any movements, stop them while they are moving out. 5. just let them come to my bases, let my defences settle them. 6. Until I've took all bases I will have 60-70% of all bases, blocking their visibility limited only to their bases, that's the time I send in all armies to wipeout their bases one by one. With my resources are far more than opponent, I can afford to send my army in great scale and win by numbers.
That's just macro play. But when you perfect macro you can beat the majority of the RTS players since most players never really get the macro ironed out..their production falters, they aren't spending their resources, etc. and they fall apart.
@@Ziegfried82 that's where you have to memorise every shortcut keys, select units, group them, assign numbers, set patrolling path. Use it effectively. I'm surprised they even have APM now, what a useless numbers. You don't win by APM, it's a meaningless stats. You do important moves. Not APM I memorise and use shortcut whenever it is possible What I seeing most players missed are patrolling, never let unit standing still to make the group has wider land coverage and will be less vulnerable to mass spell casters like EMP or Plague. And Tanks should always stay far apart to cover each other, cover more area and must always have SCV standing by to repair and build Bunkers and Turrets where ever they are stationing to avoid surprise attacks
