  • AMÉN by Lusa Monllor, composer of Castalla (Alicante). AMÉN is an Adagio in La minor for solo trombone and String Orchestra, was released last November, 2017 in Madrid by Ximo Vicedo, to whom it is dedicated, and by Muzik Ensemble in their concert cycle "Armonías de Otoño".
Here is a brief description of the work:
"The Syrian boy was named Aylan and he was only three years old."
Thus began the news in the press and TV in September 2015, and thus AMÉN began to develop. AMÉn is an Adagio in the A minor because the first letter of the child's name is A. At first, the work was to bear the name of Aylan, but I knew that there would be more and had to keep the maximum respect for all those who in search of a dignified life lost the same in waters of the Mediterranean.
AMÉN must be internalized as a prayer for peace, a prayer where the trombone prays for all the boys and girls, men and women who seek peace.
It´s a prayer of sadness, anger and impotence, a prayer where hope, respect and love are implored in each of the notes of the trombone, because when a trombone prays for peace, the world is silent.
