oh my god i just realized that because my school was a private christian school we didn't have a lgbt+ ally group but we had the art club which invariably had most of the queer kids in it. 😲We couldn't be open about being queer then because we could get kicked out of school on the grounds of that. Although, I admit I really thought I was the only queer kid at my school until I've been seeing more and more former classmates come out. And I feel sad thinking about how none of us could have a normal nice formative years because we were probably all terrified of being gay or trans. Even some people I was pretty good friends with came out as queer later on. I think I might have told them I was bisexual growing up but none of them seemed to know yet. 🤔 I'm so thankful none of the people I told told anyone else or tried to convert me back to being completely heterosexual. 😮‍💨 That would have been so horrible.

This de-escalation thing reminds me of how I was trained to do sex Ed talks. In high school they trained a group of us to get out of school and drive to middle schools to give sex talks.
I missed school to give tweens the talk. What?!?
Idk why my parents agreed to this or why it was allowed/ENCOURAGED. It was seen as such an honor. Lmao. What?!?
My mom was really proud because she was a sex Ed teacher. 😅
Unfortunately, I grew up in Tennessee and it was all abstinence only stuff. So now I live with feeling like I was a part of doing harm. But I was just a child too.
