    Loved the show and was there for the whole weekend. Had a lesson with Giles for 3 hours on carving spent too much money with Ben & Lois and Wilderways and the better half created a wonderful woven willow basket. It's such a superb family based show and I cant recommend it enough. I didn't win in the axe throwing competition though but it was great fun

    It was a great weekend but not a great venue for camping. The camping field was mostly a slope and we all ended up pitched close together up the top where it was most level. The woodland camping area was at the bottom of the hill and I wish I'd brought a hammock set up instead of a tipi tent. Lesson learned for next time.

    The word Bushcraft is used so flagrantly by most people nowadays, people have no true concept of Bushcraft which is basically outdoors living skills, or Knowledge. Bushcraft IS NOT all about gucci kit and showing off new gear, as people do a lot of. Bushcraft is ALL about going out into nature with next to nothing and having the knowledge to live comfortably by using nature to provide what is needed for shelter and tool's etc,.....

    • @BackGardenBushcraft
      @BackGardenBushcraft  5 месяцев назад

      @@neanderthaloutdoors9202 a few thoughts on this:
      Bushcraft is all about going out into nature and knowledge. On this I fully agree.
      However, There is nothing wrong with celebrating the makers and craftsmen/women who make exceptional equipment for this purpose as exemplified at Bushcraft Show or Wilderness Gathering. I spend as much time as I can in nature, learning skills and teaching them to others. I never would boast about my kit or judge others for the equipment they use.
      I recently made a video showcasing a restoration I did on a WW2 axe that I found in the dump completely free and highlighted that it was every bit as practical as an expensive axe and cost no money. I have done the same with mora knives, 50p billhooks and old saws from the scrap heap. Everyone should be free to practice their outdoor skills as they please and to their own criteria. If someone doesn't want a fancy knife, that's absolutely fine, it does the same job as a 10 quid mora, but it's not up to others to judge someone who does for saving up for a year to buy one.
      In my opinion, It should all about be about personal choice, seeking learning, connecting people with nature, building a supportive outdoor community and encouraging others. Just my 2p worth.
