For someone who’s been on Fantom community for long enough already knows Fantom was created to help the Ethereum network not to compete it. It’s Ethereum helper, not a killer This is Fantom dreams coming true
Good questions raised. I'd also like to ask some: 1. Why can't the new token be airdropped to all FTM holders and let the Opera keep doing what it does as L-1 forever. 2. Why can't Opera get the Sonic tech right away when it's ready? Let L-2 use the same tech when they launch but let's start using it on the existing L-1 right away. 3. Can't validators validate sequencer txn on Sonic as well as Opera txn simultaneously without deploying additional resources? Why not? 4. How can FTM & the new token be swapped 1:1 when both would have different max supply, circulating supply, use cases and valuation? Won't FTM holders get diluted by higher supply for the new token? 5. When are you gonna reveal the exact tokenomics for he new token?
#4 is the one that troubles me the most. I had the same thought. I guess the initial supply would match Fantom's existing supply until the bridge is closed.
For technical next video with Michael here are some question ideas. If one person (Andre) has the power to turn the ship that is Fantom into layer 2 for Ethereum. How decentralized fantom really is? Is there any need to stake fantom anymore if new token has inflated tokenomics? Meaning hard cap of ftm tokens can be increased in new meme token. Is this really good for fantom or number go up?

@@DarkoBert-ob6yr Will still exist 1:1 we went from FTM-erc20 -> FTM-opera -> FTM-sonic all are interchangeable end goal will be sonic. Thanks for this very informative interview! I don't see where there's any confrontation, but rather good questions that explore multiple "what if" scenarios. I still have some basic interrogations. Michael talked about the 1:1 flip, back and forth, between FTM and the next Sonic token (I guess also with FTM on Ethereum Network), but he also mentionned it will not be pegged to FTM... So there's a lot of ambiguity related to that. Maybe it was too much technical for this interview, but I would like to understand. Can they have a "shared market cap" (would be awesome, but I don't thing it's even possible)? Also, Micheal talked about the eventual integration of Sonic technologies in the Opera network, but I'm wondering, will there still be any uses for this "old" network, running transactions with the FTM token? Will there be an eventual (and maybe rather rapid) devaluation of Opera network and therefore FTM token? Will it just die? What's the future of FTM? I know you've tried to go in that direction in the interview, but I didn't get the answer I was looking for. People holding FTM in CEX for example will surely not receive any airdrops, but will they even be able to transfer 1:1 to the new token on platforms? I presume some will and some won't, as it is not to the foundation to answer to this. As a consequence, if massive devaluation of FTM happens, there would be many FTM holders possibly taken in hostage. Wouldn't it just be more efficient to actualize Opera Network at the same time SONIC arises as a L2 of Ethereum AND Opera, so it can save the whole network and get the so called part of the pie of Ethereum? It feels like it cuts the grass below the feet of the giant FTM could have been by itself...
The real question and sticking point is will current FTM holders be diluted in the new chain? So my 50k FTM will it be worth the same dollar value on the new chain? If the answer is no, then this isn't a good thing for current FTM holders, the major concern for all of the FTM community is are you diluting the new chain and raising $ from VC investors at the expense of the FTM community itself? Until that is fleshed out in detail I can't be happy about what I'm hearing about this pivot
Had to ask dude, and hello guys in here anyone know this answer, as i dont know but want to stake my ftm in the official ftm wallet. But are all the delegators safe?
The most important is, that current FTM will be 1:1 to the new coin. This means, all your current investition is the same investition as on start of the new coin. So if you want buy the new coin, you could also buy current FTM.

very informative conversation. thx much
We are not bullish enough about FTM after listening to this 100$ FTM in the works
Does anyone know what is going to happen with the FTM token?

So fantom stops being layer 1 and becomes Ethereums layer 2?
Nope, Fantom helps ETH L2's to be faster/cheeper than they could be with ETH.
Fantom still exists as is, sonic will launch and fantom opera will still, did you even listen

All this work to became a l2 just because "we solve decentralized sequencer" fck ya
Plus sonic speed, throughput & finality. Eth & sonic combo gonna solve the classic blockchain trilemma. What else were you looking for?
