58 yr old metalhead here. Just starting to get into Gus. The Ozzy Scream album was the first I heard of him. His work ethic is quite impressive, my current favorite for the last 6 mo or so. No nonsense brutal player !!! Who ever is the kid on drums, power, insurance & style...the guy's killin' it !!
Mid and new Firewind is good/great, but early Firewind (Between, Burning and Forged) is by far the best, so groovie, raw and Gus was young and relentless creating insane riffs! Songs like Warrior, Tomorrow can wait, I will fight alone, Brother's Keeper, this one, Kill to live, The Forgotten memory, Hate World Hero, Escape from tomorrow, Burn in hell, ok, I can just name them all HAHA! If those albums were released today, pffff, 10M+ of views easily per any song...
To think, at the time this was filmed I was laying in bed nursing some pretty serious bruises and sore muscles I sustained from the mosh pit I took part in the night before at their show in Athens...it was well worth the pain!!! This band will never cease to rock! Had an awesome, informal chat with these guys right after the show for about an hour, super chill and amazing, honestly one of my best memories of 2022!
Herbie in Firewind seems to be the golden age of the band! We are looking forward for the new album!!! Have a nice tour with Beast, hope to catch you on tour somewhere!

haha, go to a concert and stand at Gus' side of the stage? Saw them in November and they had turned his amp/speaker towards the audience while we were up against the stage. I could pretty much only hear guitar and drums on that side.

i am a huge overkill fan from New Jersey this is kind of in that style with an added edge . Gus really plays in several perspectives it gives the guitar a new dynamic to go clean shred like gilbert or very melodic like priest or dime then go wha phrasing with the blues based chops really great songs too awesome stuff

You’ve no idea what’s on our back track, but here’s the breakdown: it’s just a stereo track w/ a guitar melody OR a keyboard (depending on the song) + choir vocals (mainly on some choruses) which I also sing live and have done since the early days. I don’t have to explain myself to you or anyone, BUT we’re a band that could still play our show successfully even if backing tracks weren’t there or failed. Oh, and since we started playing to a click track, we’ve been tighter than ever! Just do an A/B comparison of this to a pre-pandemic live video of ours.
@Gus G tell him Gus, get the hell outta here. I've seen firewind 4 or 5 times, and I live in California so it's not easy. GUS and firewind are the real deal. Get your ass up there and let us here you. One other thing, I've met Gus 3 times and he's a class act!
U know dude, I like that lineup too. I've seen herbie in avantasia and that dude has a set of pipes. As much as I love randy cross, Jo Nunez is just as much of a bad ass drummer. Gus has known Johan for many years. He's celebrating 20 years, he's done something right. I came in on burning earth, went back to his first cd. What an awesome body of work. Not a dud in the bunch.
