The other advantage you have with the RAT5 over the TAK1is the jimping on the spine. This helps when utilizing the choyle. I have both of these knives as well, and also the RAT7. I also have an ESEE 4 and 6. The ESEE 6 is my overall favorite out of all of them.
Haven't held the Tak-1 but I do own the R.A.T 5. and love it. Took it camping not to long ago. It did great, but the blade coating didn't last. Love the vids. I always watch them. Keep them up. 👍🏻
I agree with everything you said. I have had no chipping on my D2 TAK-1 either, I think D2 is great for 5in. blades and smaller, it will chip out with really hard chopping though, so I would never by a large chopper like the RTAK II, or RAT 7 in D2.
I have held one and I have used its little brother the pendleton hunter with VG-1 and I would say that it would be an over all great camp knife. I would not do a lot of batoning or chopping with it though. VG-1 can chip under hard use like D2, but for carving, food prep, hunting, and other light tasks it will be great.
I think I'm set on the RAT 5. Also, it's comforting to know that when I'm "running and gunning in.... Vietnam" , the deeper finger guard will come in handy. Thanks for the suggestion! 👍
I really like my TAK 1. Been looking at the RAT 5, but haven't pulled the trigger on it becuase I am so satisfied with my TAK1. The handle on my TAK1 is perfect for my hands. I have the Ranger SBS-4 and I noticed the handle on it is too wide. Whereas the handle on hte TAK1 is just perfect. I lucked on the TAK1 becuase I got the D2 steel at a great price. 1095 is a ggod steel, but D2 is superior. Having said that I think D2 will chip easier than 1095. My TAK1 has not chipped yet.
Ok, the TAK 1 is visibly longer that the RAT 5 in the video, you say the TAK 1 is 10 inches and the RAT 5 is 11... unless there is a SERIOUS optical illusion going on here, I think your specs are off.
Thanks, still can't wait for a review on the cold steel master hunter, what do u think of it besides a hunters knife, ived seen sum reviews on it but really want to intake on it,thanks again.
I appreciate the conversation, but I have watched my video again and remeasure the two knives. The TAK1 is 10inches and the RAT5 is 10.85inches overall length. The OKC website will back up all the specs I gave in the video.
Thanks for the support!

Thank you so much You answered all the questions I had. Will be getting. Tak1
The thing about 4-6 inch blades is they r not made for chopping. 7 inch or more is good for.chopping
TAK-1 added to my wish list. Thanks.
Nice, you wont be sorry.
I prefer the Tak 1 also. The Rat 5 seems heavily weighted in the handle and doesn't feel very balanced to me.
Love the review man exactly what I was looking for!
Glad it helped!
I went with the RAT 5, excellent blade.
Both great knifes for sure, great review.thanks
Glad it helped!
This is a good channel. Idk y you don't have more subs

specs are correct, the tak-1 is stronger.

Both definitely winners tinkering i'll go with tak -1 good review
Thanks!
STRONGER??
Watch your video again, you're obviously transposing the specs of the knives.

@@gideonstactical you're correct. The angle of the video makes it look like the TAK is longer but its not.
Those aren’t finger cut outs in the blade, they are for striking a ferro rod.
@@thedodger4886 yes, they are...
Finger choil
Except a bk2 lol
Nice comparo
Clearly, the specs and picture do not match. You have reversed something. I can not trust this video for any decision making.
