I’m amazed by all the advancements in cancer treatments these days. I had Hodgkin Lymphoma 30 years ago (it was still known as Hodgkin’s Disease back then) and was treated with chemotherapy and radiation. I am really surprised Christine didn’t get chemotherapy as part of her treatment. Today, I am waiting for word on whether or not I have thyroid cancer. My brother had thyroid cancer, and as part of my treatment for HL, my thyroid was in the “line of fire” from the radiation I received. So my risk thyroid cancer is pretty high. I hope Christine is doing well today and that she has her illness well under control!
I'm guessing that by "advanced" they mean that it has spread to other parts of the body (distant). From what I've read (since I have th same thing, although the least aggresive type, and had my thyroid removed) is that chemo is not usually done and only done as a last resort but it depends on the specific scenario though (as chemo itself can cause issues).
Most likely it was one of the lesser common ones (which are not as common) follicular, medullary or anaplastic (which is the worst). But it could have also been one of the "safer" ones like papillary cancern but just caught very late after it has traveled to other parts of the body (which might make it an "advanced" cancer or a cancer in an advanced state). Although I'm not sure as I don't think it was disclosed explicitly what she had.
@@ldav2006 I'm sorry to hear that friend. I have been living 11 years this way. I also have the BRAFV600E mutation. Some tall cell. What are symptoms of lung mets? RAI doesn't work for me either. It just watch and wait until I get into trouble. I am stage 3 at the time of diagnosis.
i too had the radioactive iodine only to find out that anaplastic thyroid cancer does not take up iodine. same side as you, large nodule, rt. side paralyzed vocal chord also. voice gone, sending me to palliative radiologist. hope you are doing better.
Anyone please advice, my husband have pappillary thyroid cancer. Thyroglobulin is 168 now. 3 times done Radio iodine therapy, but doctor says it resists and not useful. Petscan also did, but nothing more big in lungs, in backbone, but some nodules have. What to do to decrease thyroglobulin
sounds like you have the anaplastic thyroid. same as me as i was dx'd with papillary and then what they called aggressive papillary with the BRAFV600E, tall cell. so now its anaplastic, the "rare" kind.
sounds like this is anaplastic thyroid to be honest if it's resisting things like RAI, as those types of TC tend to do. I would consult another doctor.
Living with hypothyroidism was so hard and painful, but thanks to doctor okouromi treatment using herb’s to get rid of thyroid problems…🌼🌼☮️🌸🌺✝️🌺👋👋💗💚☪️
Does having hypothyroidism put you at a higher risk of this cancer? I'm asking because I'm stage 3 my sister has thyroiditis time is on your side with this cancer check your neck any lumps see your Dr for thyroid test. Mine gave me a sore throat paralyzed my vocal cord the tumor was golf ball sized I never noticed it. I went to see my Dr I had bronchitis the Dr felt the lump and sent me for a ultrasound. I have stage 3 metastatic to local. Lymph nodes. No cure.BRAFV600E mutation. That turns it anaplastic I have read. I wish Dr's told everything up front. If patient asks be blunt , be blunt. @@Rebecca-1111 That is true, doctors make mistakes, you have to ask them everything in detail. What I know is that Epstein Barr virus puts you at high risk of thyroid cancer, lymphoma, ME, and other problems, according to studies and papers I found of Doctors and scientists. My thyroid was removed due to cancer, and in one of my lymph nodes was the Epstein Barr.

You are a fighter. May God bless you and your family.
What a beautiful strong lady❤
God bless you. You are something else. You have such a strong will.
Bless her. I hope she is doing well.
Thanks for sharing your story.
I forgoed the I-131 radioactive iodine treatment because I didn’t want to chance ruining my taste buds or getting leukemia
Is she still doing ok?hope she is still fine
Sorry to say she past away in 2016
Do the diet the first time. Is very important.
Thyroid injection she spoke of is far better experience then the 2-3 week fast no meds. But first RAI you have to do the diet.
Does anyone know what type of thyroid cancer this poor lady has?
may be follicular tyroid cancer
Wondering same.

Paralyzed vocal cord from a golf ball sized tumor on my right side thyroid. Stage metastatic to the neck. Radiodine doesn't work either.
I’m doing radiodine as well do you know how long it takes to work
@@bigaleos3175 you feel it the next day. Very tired. I had a very small dose it doesn't work for me. Good luck.
Had 2 RAI treatments didn't work. Have lung mets.
