Yay it’s Avery cool that you go birdwatching at my country Costa Rica.
My wife is adopted from Guatemala where the Quetzal is the national bird. It's a bird that I hope to photograph someday and make an amazing print for her. Thanks for the great video content, Mark!
I'm a canon guy. Getting ready for my second CR trip. I checked most of the RUclips channels of photographers I follow who have CR trip videos and the most impressive in terms of sharpness and detail is by far Mike Smith. His Sony images were beyond WOW.
Beautiful film, thank you. I was in Costa Rica in 1983, at that time we had to hike to the Cloud Forest. At a certain point we saw a rough wooden sign pointing up that said “Quetzal” . I looked up and there he was in all his glory. It’s engraved in my mind. So nice to see all these birds up close and personal and captured digitally.

sigh...I wanted to cry when you said "we should go to Costa Rica"...we returned to the US in late March and I am looking forward to heading back as soon as it is safe to do so...did a double take when the area where you saw the Quetzal came up in your video...we stood in the same spot...we were there in May of 2017 and I was lucky enough to get pics of two chicks...the mother and father were taking turns guarding the nest and bringing back food...thanks for bringing back such fond memories and for sharing your beautiful photos/videos...stay safe...
You sir are a master. Once again beauty you show the beauty of nature. Interesting how you point out flaws in a picture that looks perfect. Well, if something was wrong you would know, it looked like a great shot to me. I hope you do not tire of people telling you great job, because you really do the best work in your nature photography. I am learning so much seeing your work and it is important to me. I am very lucky to be able to see the works of a modern master.

I was in Costa Rica approximately a year ago, but never was lucky enough to spot the Quetzal! Amazing photos, as per usual. You
never disappoint!
Love Savegre Mountain Lodge. Best Place for birding in Costa Rica. The Magnificent hummingbird is now the Talamanca hummingbird. Still a beautiful hummer. Before you pack to avoid this crisis, Costa Rica is closed now to tourism, although according to W.H.O. they have a very low case-fatality ratio of 0.88% health authorities are not opening the country yet. My thoughts and prayers are with those in eco-tourism affected by this world crisis.
Tomorrow I am going to monte verde another cloud forest in Costa Rica with similar bird species, like the quetzal the toucans and toucanets.
Stunning birds in a magnificent habitat. I was in awe of these beauties.

I really should not be on RUclips at 3am. But then again I got to go on a wonderful trip to Costa Rica with one of my favourite photographers in the world and saw all these amazing birds. Now to get some sleep and most likely dream about crazy looking green birds.

Your videos are the best on You Tube, Mark. It was really cool to see some birds I had never seen before, and this gives me ideas for when we can all travel again after the pandemic. Meanwhile I'm happy trying to get some Western Tanager shots in my back yard. :)

Great video. I saw and photographed the resplendent Quetzal rather poorly in 2015. It's what got me excited about birds and photography. Must go back soon to Costa Rica

Can you comment on the Sony A7R4 + 200-600 F6.3 in low light conditions. We often have to deal with very overcast grey days here in the U.K.
and I will be restricted to a "one camera one lens" set up for birds and wildlife . Best regards and stay safe.

Mark I do not even know where to start with this comment ....... there were so many beuatiful and exotic birds in this one video . Each and everyone of them perfectly captured by your cameras . The colours of the feathers on all the birds was just an overload for my brain ! I loved it and am left utterley in awe of that tiny tiny little hummingbird . I just cannot imagine how this bird must look among the great big landscape , in this miniature forest it looked like a beautiful giant . Thank you so much Mark for sharing the photo's and the story. Great photography. You should go to Panama. We have a lot of forests and tropical animals there. I live in Chicago now but I visit every year.
I'd love to see a budget-friendly Sony setup in action from you. Something like the a6400 + 200-600mm or 70-350mm.
