I just got a 1/50 model of a Gemag CC-8800. 160' Boom & 120' Luffing Jib, I was stunned at how much it weighs. It had an Extra label from the Delivery service that Warned "Heavy," and the delivery Man was Struggling with it. It's a Nightmare Reeving it, but it's Beautiful and 6 feet tall. you need room for it.
It sure is a great model! Just couldn't beat it. Wasn't as big as the liebherr but definitely beat it with the detail, liebherr was a little more flexible. We really need a 1/50 luffing tower crane since we have 1 of each other variation, flat top, hammerhead, self erecting, mobile self erector... time for a luffer.
The argument "TC models in 1/50 is very massive and big" doesn't work, because today many manufactures produced crawler and ring cranes much bigger than tower cranes like this model
Unfortunately it is true. Liebherr, Wolff and others have not commissioned any mass produced tower crane models in 1:50 scale for over 15 years. There has also been no new ring crane for the same period. Big crawlers are rare too, and they have not sold well.
Legendary crane. I want to see reproduce them by TWH
TWH went out of business many years ago.
@CranesEtcTV what about Conrad? Few mounts ago they posted pic Liebherr 630 with question about restoring production
