it's quite difficult because after Nora rings the phone the second time, Sydney has to be in that exact position on the ceiling for Rick to go back up. If she's anywhere else in the house Rick just follows you and kills you. if you are outside he just runs after you and if you cross the threshold of the house either at the front or back entrance his trigger to kill you goes off. Also after interacting with Mike you can't move anymore. It also has invisible walls on the front and back doors.

I noticed the footprints leading to the basement door immediately upon arriving, and i figured out that the locked door was his living quarters, however I did not know that the Hiker tries entering the basement. He targeted the player, followed them and tried breaking in, but he didn't count on the elderly man being there.
The developer really put in some details we don't expect to see while playing, like the hiker kicking the door of the basement. My guess is the fake Rick came out of the basement, killed the hiker and dragged his body into the garage, since he is shown leaving it in this video to come up to the front door of the house.
