Literally single bars you had to write and send into Vibe by hand. The prize was a deal with a recording company. Then he went on to go undefeated on 106 & Park Freestyle Friday with a grand prize being a deal with Def Jam. He never went through with both, stayed independent but moved in some big circles, brushed shoulders with some major talent. Seems to me dude just was too ahead of his time and he wanted to stay independent and not sell his soul to a label. His early music was definitely not as marketable in that era (early-mid 2000s) when people weren’t consuming music from true lyricist or conscious music.
