I have the same graphic card. But after I changed my registery and the game is starting up, my pc turn down. I even restart my pc a couple of times, but it won't work. How can i fix this?
@@Roy-yi9vg hi, have you update you drive to 21.9 before changing the registery? I have no problem when I play it, try to update the drive before change the registery.
Btw, Remember change it back to your backup before update haha

@@ytszpui1014 the last update I could find is 21.5 on the amd website. Where did you find the 21.9? I download the 21.4 recommended, after that the 21.5 optional. So everything was updated. After that I change the file to 21.20 and then my pc is restarting in game but also if I'm searching on the internet.
@@Roy-yi9vg i remember i chose the Adrenalin 21.5.2 Recommended Radeon Software to update(Release Date 2021/6/21) then chose the full installation, it will update your driver to 21.09.03.08-21.
i think the reboot is the driver crash, should go back to your backup, then update 21.5 then change the registry at the end. Basically, after changing the registry, the radeon software are no longer use-able, so change the registry is only a temporary solution for BF2042 only, after the beta, i will change it back

My R9 brothers WERE SAVED
So I figured out what you can do instead of just changing the entry is delete the "ReleaseVersion" entry entirely. Should prevent this from happening again in the future. But before you delete the entry right click the "0000" folder and export it and save it to ur desktop so you can import it again if anything happens. I just did this and I can confirm it worked. I just ran the amd cleanup utility to see if it would remove this registry and it didn't. I had the same release version in my registry which means amd install/update/cleanup utilities totally missed this entry. *This will be a problem again with future updates as the minimum driver increases unless you delete the entry.* I have an XFX R9 290X. An old beast. Thanks for the vid. Helped me figure out what the problem was. Much appreciated.
Any problems running the game so far? I'm also on R9 290X. I imagine they're dropping Windows support with a simple string check because AMD dropped support for drivers. They're trying so hard to get rid of these cards cos they overproduced them and liquidated them for cheap. Thank god for Linux/Steam Proton with EAC support coming soon, this will be a thing of the past with FOSS drivers.
How it works on r9 290x? how much fps?
@@ProcabiakYT Not sure but I was able to boot into the menu so shouldn't be any problems with driver support I think. Min version for bf 2042 is 21.2.x apparently. Since amd dropped driver support will probably be a few years atleast I would assume before major AAA games stop supporting the 21.5.2 drivers. But even then there will probably still be a lot of people on that driver version for the next few years so who knows what will happen. As long as I can buy a 3060ti or something for retail price in the next couple years I'll be happy
@@vitaliisavchenko8602 Not sure I didnt preorder it so cant play beta till the 8th. But my 290x runs most AAA games medium/high 1440p 60fps or 1080p 120fps so I would assume the same with bf 2042. Some games I can even get away with 4k like the rome total war games. Nice thing about most modern games is you can game 4k or 1440p native then set render resolution to 50% so you still get the sharpness of high resolution but the performance of half the resolution. Only problem with that is if you dont have a great cpu it can get bottlenecked. My i7 4790 cpu does great tho. The old r9 series GPU's really are quality cards. I just refurbished mine with new fans, thermal paste and pads, and added a few extra case fans for more cooling. Using fan control software really helps with this card cuz it likes to run hot. The fans on the 290x can go up to like 4000 rpms. Runs like a beast and now that I have efficient cooling I'm gonna do some overclocking and squeeze some more fps out of it. 7+ years old still runs like a boss.

In one of my rigs i still have the R9 Fury X,
with which you can run almost all the new games in high quality, some in ultra in 2560 x 1440 between 90 and 120 fps, it is a pity that AMD does not continue to support these graphics cards. You can see that it is far from being the company it once was. Since now they can sell products at exorbitant prices to bitcoin farms they have already forgotten about the consumers who made them grow.
After making this changes, now I'm getting an error when I try to load the Radeon software running in the system tray, something about versions not being correct or not equalling. I was trying to remember what the heck game I made this change for but couldn't remember until I searched like "radeon driver error registry", searched videos, and saw BF 2042 and knew that was it LOL. And thank God I followed your advice and made a backup of what the value was hahahaha. Hopefully this fixes it, I need to increase the brightness for a particular game and can't get in the settings with it modified. Plus I'll never play 2042 again anyway lulz.

I have watched your video in the past when I had This problem and it worked I appreciate it very much but I recently had to do a whole system wipe because I had a virus. But still curious if my release version is the problem why it wont work. I just want to make sure before I do anything stupid. @@AaronTechSol Mine is saying that Windows version 18362 has been detected and it needs to be 19041 or higher. Update windows. I havent been able to get my PC to fully update even to just the 20H2 version. Been stuck on 1909 but every other game has been working just fine incuding new ones.
@@bigr1gricky826 Use media creation tool to update Windows 10:www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows10 Before installation the option to keep your personal files is checked by default, when that is checked you will not lose data and you can successfully update your windows 10. The you can try launching the game
