    We went to Palermo for the first time last November. We fell in love with the city. The architectural beauty was phenomenal. We are going back this October.

    You should try swimming in Mondello and other beaches near Palermo in September and even October after the sea has absorbed the intense heat of June, July and August.
    As it is known in physics water release slowly the heat it has gathered.
    Besides lying on the beach in September isn't as scorching as July or August so pleasant temperatures and velvety waters.
    Tick. Tick.

    Haha, the trash situation in Palermo is exactly what I remember! Salerno seemed spotless in comparison. But seriously, that beach in Mondello is unreal - clear water like the Caribbean! Palermo definitely has a ton of energy, but I gotta say, finding hidden nightlife gems in Salerno was pretty fun too. Tough choice for a holiday destination - both have so much to offer! 🇮🇹 What are you leaning towards?

    • @MsBritaly
      @MsBritaly  3 месяца назад

      It’s so hard to choose - both offer something very different. If you want the possibility to explore more of Italy - Salerno is the best base for this. If you want to experience a part of Italy that doesn’t even feel like Italy - come to Palermo!

    Where I live, we had films in the original language 41 years ago. I live in Tuscany and films in the original language are not necessarily in the main cities. Even small towns offer he sane service. As to Theaters, Italy is a very cultural country. The theater is is very important here. That is why main towns have beautiful theaters. And there is a lot going on in various languages.

    Good afternoon I am really enjoying watching all your videos and catching up in your content, in mid August I am Travelling to Salerno for the first time. I have Really enjoyed Learning about Salerno as a city in general.
    I am curious, do you or your partner enjoy football as you are well aware that Salerno has a very passionate fan base In the football team salernitana 1919. I am an advocate and passionate fan myself and I’ve travelled much of Italy due to this Passion in football. Thank you for all your content .continue the good work, Take care, Chris

    Hi! Thank you so much! I was hoping you would speak about housing in both cities, specifically Palerno...I just looked up properties, both rentals and purchasing & the rentals are greatly lacking in character and the properties for purchase as well are very limited, unless you want to spend close to a million..still lacking in true Italian character and charm.
    Whereas I saw properties in Tuscany and other parts of Sicily that were beautiful and very affordable.
    As for the weather, I live in Phoenix Arizona and it's only a month 1/2 into the summer & we've had record-breaking days all summer...112 on average and 90's at night! So, when you said it's "really, really hot" I had to look up what's considered hot and your average temps are 75-80's, with occasional highs in low 90's...I can handle that! 😅 Although, we are a very "dry heat" & it looks like your humidity is in the 75 range. Which, yes, makes it very sticky and uncomfortable.

    • @MsBritaly
      @MsBritaly  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes - the temperatures are one thing here but coupled with the humidity - that’s what makes it difficult. In terms of housing, in the big cities like Palermo, you can find some properties with more traditional characteristics but mainly the types of homes I think you are referring to, are found in the smaller towns.

    Salerno is a good base for visiting the smaller towns on the Amalfi coast, however, I don't think it is on the radar of most non Italian tourists. I was impressed with the city when I stayed there a few years ago. Sorbillo pizza?

    Said with the utmost respect, I find highly mortifying the description made of the cultural offer of Salerno, which overflows with music and literary festivals (A great poet like Lawrence Ferlinghetti has held several conferences here) and offers one of the best opera billboards in the peninsula (The Teatro Verdì has been declared National Monument). Franco Zeffirelli described the city with these words: "Salerno is a pleasant discovery, there is ferment, culture, a culture that comes from afar, that you can breathe in the landscape, in the monuments, among the people. It is no coincidence that it is the city where the Salerno Medical School was born and developed. And then there is this Theatre, a unique example in Italy because it is a theatre free from the interference of the State" - Moreover, Salerno can boast the second oldest film festival in Italy, preceded only by that of Venice.

    • @MsBritaly
      @MsBritaly  3 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for your comment. As I mentioned in the video, I’m referring to the city of Salerno and not the province. The film festival you refer to is held in Giffoni, which is in the province of Salerno and not the city itself.
      Of course there are things to see and do in the city of Salerno and different events held throughout the year but it is not in the same frequency or variety as in Palermo.
      This is why I had to make this distinction in this video, because as a province there are more things to choose from but as a city, it is a little different.

      Ah well when you said film festival - of course Giffoni came to mind, as that is the film festival held in the province of Salerno. The festival you refer to, although focusing on films, is known as the International Cinema Festival. Small difference but can be easily confused.

    In Salerno and Naples the politicians don't take care about the sea in the town .They just take Money,they never do enough about clening and filtering the sea and water before arrive in the Sea.Night life was fantastic in my citysalerno in the period between 1990-2005 i dont know why now is much worse, May be the economy is much worse now i have to say and people go out less.
    Palermo Is the Capital of Sicily much bigger and i Wish the keep their Town like Thiis or even better.
    But Salerno habe AN Amazing position in the midlle of the South,on the Cast,good wheater even if in Sicily in winter usually is milder.
    You are giving a vert good and right informations.Grazie
