The Seahawks had 1 timeout and 1:06 left after the Kearse catch got them down to the 5. They wanted to score but also had to run off as much clock as possible so Brady couldn’t get them into FG range to send it to OT. They ran Marshawn on the first play, hoping Belicheck would bite and call a timeout but he didn’t. That allowed them to run the clock down 40 seconds. However, they only had one timeout left for three potential downs, therefore three rush attempts into the end zone is impossible with 26 seconds left. They had to throw it on one of the downs to either score or stop the clock. That would then give them the option of running it twice on a potential 3rd and 4th down. The Patriots defense was set up in a way that was daring Seattle to throw it, giving each of their receivers 1 on 1 matchups. Plus in the regular season, Lynch had attempted 5 rush attempts from the 1 yard line, and 4/5 he was stuffed on. Now can you argue that the type of slant called was a bad play call? Sure, that’s arguable, but simply saying they should’ve run it is a bit lazy. But it was a great play by the defense more so than a terrible play call. Or the fact that the Patriots were having a hard time on offense until our best slot corner who was covering Edelman (and had a pick in the 1st quarter) broke his arm, and our best pass rusher that game who had been constantly in the backfield (Cliff Avril) got knocked out of the game with an injury too
And you guys also neglect to mention that the LOB was injured in that game, especially Sherman and Kam(?). Wait, that is part of the game, right? And everything else isn't?
@siliziwencanywa1138 yeah I kinds just mentioned that in mine. Sherm, Kam and Earl were all hurt pretty bad. Then Jeremy Lane broke his arm after an int in the first quarter, and later in the game we lost Cliff Avril to an injury who had been a monster the whole game until that point
@@chrissears5482 Lol! Forgot about all the injuries in the game itself. It never fit the narrative, I guess...
@@siliziwencanywa1138 yeah. I still think the play call was kinda dumb. I would of went with Lynch, but there were plenty of other reasons we lost that game other than just 1 play
The play call wasn't bad it was just a poor decision by Wilson. Marshawn was actually 1 for 4 on goaline situations on the year also the Patriots had their goaline defense on the and Seahawks had were in 11 personnel.
Pete made that call not russel
@@cortezwatson9212I think you're missing the point. They didn't have the right personnel in to run the ball. They had their pass offense out instead of their run offense. Russell also has to be smart enough to know when to throw the ball away. Just because the coach calls a throwing play doesn't mean you have to throw it when there's no one open.
You knew this was coming, pete!!!! (Spider-Man 3)
Those Seahawks teams should of been the last to go back to back. He cost them that Super Bowl.
It’s cause of that the last back to back win was the Pats in 2003-2004.
Chris thinks just because Russ is an Evangelical Christian Nationalist like himself that he was the leader of the Seahawks during that Super Bowl. 🙄
Lol! You guys are something else. Never understood the Russ hate. Until the finger injury against the Rams, he was 2nd in TD% and 2nd in TD-Int ratio all-time. You guys are really ... if you don't realise that Russ' play led them there...
If it wasn't Russ then who was it?
Oh FFS, Rob. We all know that pass instead of running Lynch was Russ cooking. Pete covered for him, but Pete's whole DNA is running the ball.
Shoulda handed the ball to Beast Mode
Rob Parker is such a hater. I don't think I've ever read a positive title come from this channel for the guy. And sure, it's true, but it's a needless fixation on this guy's fuckup. He did some great things as a coach too, much better than the majority of coaches that seem to get fired in less than three years for doing nothing, not even making the playoffs.
Pete Carroll dug his grave last year in playoffs when he made the worst possible play call when his team was ready to score on the one-yard line.
What'd he do last year?
Feel the same about Al Michaels. He's great, but he is the most boring play by play caller in the business. He makes games more boring than they are. Al is a legend, but it's time for him to step down. We need more energy guys like Ian Eagle.
These guys still have jobs in media?
Does that surprise you?
Everyone that complains about that play only wanted the Patriots to lose. That's what's so funny about it. The 2 defenders get no credit for having amazing reactions in real time. Just whining because the result u didn't want to happen did. U guys sound like a bunch of losers
Yes also Marshawn was not a good short yardage back , but no one ever brings that up..
@@soda8736 the idea that because they're guaranteed to score is moronic. Teams have lost in every type of scenario. You'd think logic would tell someone that. 0 for 5 or 0 for 6 for the season but that isn't applicable lol
yall got there because my packers choked the game away, so dont feel too bad lol
Are you the same guy that use to be on Top buzz all the time who use to love using the word millennials?
If that was the Patriots instead of the Seahawks u guys would be celebrating but you're crying about it so many years later. They didn't lose because of a missed flag or due to a bad flag thrown. It was because the players played and hating naysayers are upset that the greatest franchise, coach, and QB won. U naysayers look sad af
One big mistake shouldn’t define your career. He still won a Super Bowl by destroying one of the greatest offenses of this century the year prior and won a Natty too. Brady and Belichick choked away a perfect season against a mediocre Giants team. Mahomes blew a 21-3 lead in an AFC title game at home. Every all time great has a stain on their legacy, he shouldn’t be remembered only for that call.
It shouldn’t but it does it was the worst dumbest call in NFL history.
Pete Carroll should be ashamed of himself
Seattle could still have moved on from Russ but Pete Carroll should have been removed first. He was definitely part of the problem and wasted prime years in his career.
If that plays goes the other way
It's Pete Carol outsmarted Bill and Lynch was no where the best back in the league during his era AP was by far
Agreed. Like Coach said "It wasn't the worst call, it was the worst result" Haters will hate no matter what the truth is
@@MunkyKungFu Throw for 1.5 yards in an overly crowded end zone in the 2nd down. Sure.
@@pedrofior2562 - Check the analytics. Marshawn wasn't doing well in those situations. I know it was only 1 yard but a half step and a half inch the other way and it's x2 Lombardi's and the talk would be about how nobody expected the Seahawks to pass.... Worst result, not the worst call
Rob is a hater 😂 never change man
You SUPPOSED to hate on people who do dum chit like that
russell audibled out of the play, pete never made the call
I don’t think Carroll didn’t run the ball because they wanted Wilson as a hero. Carroll was fired from the patriots and did not want to stick it to the patriots. Is so stupid. The Seahawks could of been a dynasty but to many negative attitudes.
Marshawn was not a good short yardage runner, from the 2010-2015 he was 30th of 39 runningbacks in 1 yard situations, that season he 1 for 4 in 1 yard situations, the problem wasn't passing , it was the play call , play callers do stuff like that all the time, it works and you never hear about it.. Everyone is thinking run hit them with pass, the play was just dumb , and Russ should have known if hes not wide open throw it away.
I agree
He was stopped six times out of six at the 1. And they were going against Bill. People don't care for facts, Bro. Unfortunately, they don't sell...
Cliff Avril took shots at him
Michael Bennet took shots at him
Earl Thomas double birdied the man on his way out
Richard Sherman reps the 9ers on tv harder than the Seahawks
Russ even tried to get him fired.
All the Seahawks best players over that 14 years took shots at him I say good riddance
Agree 💯%,
I agree with Rob. Worst play in history 😢
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Parker is crying about Pete and Russ making a bad decision at the worst time and yet I hear crickets about the refs just gifting the Chiefs the last Super Bowl.
Cry about the refs just blatantly deciding who wins Rob.
All because he didn't like his own running back at that time.
Yes sir lol he right
"Lol" is dated.
It was an all time stupid call. He chose politics over the game plan
Rob Parker everyone already says you should retire😂 you’re washed, if there was ever even a prime, I’m not sure I wouldn’t know
So rob should retire let someone younger in we don't need you
Rob is not 72
It’s true, the boomers want to work Til they drop and then what you got? A mess.. after your late 60s, You aren’t entitled to keep coaching when you ain’t beating LA or SF. he had Wilson in his prime but once they paid Wilson, things regressed to above avg/making playoffs only..
Guess Russ AND Pete were trash huh Seattle fans??
😂😂
Jimmy Johnson didn’t get a college championship
He won one with the Miami hurricanes
You guys don’t know shhhhhhhh
Let's be real. Rob is dissing Pete cuz Pete is white
Nah it’s because Pete gifted Tom Brady a Super Bowl. Rob hates Brady so much it’s sad!
Bro what? 😂 You're actually trying to excuse disgust at that dumba$$ play as reverse racism 🤣 It was STUPID, CARELESS AND UNNECESSARY. It robbed the whole team AND the fans. People are allowed to continue to be annoyed at what was a terrible waste of the amazing and rare opportunity that was.
Bro you 60 please retire we need fresh talent
Why do they bring up a bad moment in Carroll’s career? The man is moving on don’t rain on his parade.
Rob lame ..why would he give up if hes still on top lol
