The third movement is among the most mystic music ever composed, the variations are like talking to you from another world, until the last variation takes you to another dimension, and then, like nothing has happened, you are brought back to the main theme, closing the sonata like gradually waking up from a dream.

Valentina, I’m 16 (almost 17) years old and i started piano when i was 5. However, i never quite had true passion for it until about a year ago and i truly believe you and your channel inspired and motivated me so much to get where I am now, both in terms of technique and emotional connection and maturity. I just want to say thank you and to kindly ask that you never stop posting and sharing your passion and tremendous skill with the world, regardless of what commenters and critics say. Love from Chicago :))
Same with me, it was always a chore to practice but at exactly the same time as you (age 16, almost 17) I fell in love. I remember the exact moment, when I heard Chopin Etude op 25 no 1 for the first time and I knew there was so much more to classical music than what I ever imagined. I'm 19 now and currently working to do my DipABRSM, I did my grade 8 when I was 16 and vowed to never practice piano again and a couple month later it became my obsession and number 1 priority and it still is today.
One of the best interpretations of the last variation I've ever heard. Amazing dynamic control as well as the amazing ecstasy in the demisemiquaver passage.
I sincerely think you are an extremely genuine, self-conscious, down to earth pianist, whose tempi choices are perfectly calibrated and always reasoned and thought through. Plus you have such a unique and outstanding playing style, a pristine clarity of sounds as well as an incredible range of dynamics. Don't ever stop playing! And do not care about critics, who often just feel like judging without any background knowledge of classical music.
Wonderful. Breathtaking. Valentina, it takes courage and character to play this extraordinary music with such transparent honesty and emotional depth. Thank you so much for sharing this performance.
Valentina: The freedom and flexibility of the opening movement was a joy to behold while you caught those magical moments in the central variations of the concluding movement where Beethoven seems to be at Heaven's gate.
Thank you for this performance. #30 has been my favorite since I first heard it at age 17 in 1977. I'm hearing new things revealed in your performance that make it even more special.
Beautiful woman and pianist, and wonderfully played. Valentina has made Beethoven's music come alive. She is truly a great pianist. Thankyou for the upload.
My favourite piece by Beethoven and my favourite pianist... what's not to like. That first movement is made of spider silk and what beautiful playing... the second is steel and then Beethoven sits us down in the finale for a chat - - - about the universe itself. Beautiful Valentina thank you so much.
dear Ms Lisitsa I don't think I have ever heard a more emotionally devastating performance of that magnificent "mini-Goldbergs" that forms the last movement. I shared it on my Facebook with this comment: "towards the end of the movement it is like the deeply sad theme has been set on fire, it evokes sparks and light with trills and constant movement, the descending figures under the trills really do sound like church bells this time! Valentina Lisitsa plays it so sensitively and expressively, bringing tears to my eyes more than once - not where one might expect it but in the delicate little things in the music that speak a kind of threadbare, exhausted tenderness after the deep sorrow of the original presentation of the theme. This is a performance so potent it feels wrong to listen to it while the sun is still shining - this is music for late at night". Forget about the "critics", their performances render the music meaningless and boring even if they are "correct" about tempi.
I like Claudio Arrau (he was a chilean pianist, I'm chilean) but I like your style Valentina. It's a pleasure to hear you. Thanks for your performance and I hope some day to see you in concert. Have a nice day.
So pleasantly surprised to find *THIS* E major sonata posted after the Pathetique. This has long been my "favorite" Beethoven sonata, and I enjoyed every moment of this performance here. Thanks for sharing this incredible gift with us all!!
Another lovely treat for a very wet day here. Elegant presentation & performance. A real Joy for the senses. All our Love & best wishes for this Titanic Adventure 👏🎵🎹🎶🥰🌹🧡👑🙏🌷🌸🕊💃🎵🌼👏 Thank You! 🥰🥰🥰🌹🌹🌹
Listening to 3rd times in roles laying on a bed enjoying Saturday what a beautiful time you can create. Visiting new town past 4weeks, bit challenging to find a piano to play. I was fed much by this beauty by this performance. My on line critiques would be my heart was filled with much of goodness that my words can only go so far to express. I seek one that created us all in this moments to indulge what He has created through you and all that it took to creat this moment. Oh I love love love
Val Val Val, always and ever spectacular, moving my feelings and mind, extracting our emotions involuntarily,, What're you ? A piano fairy ? Perhaps...
As I am a subscriber, every time your new music comes up I rush to play it. Always enjoy your music. Good job! Oh, and please do another GoPro performance. It’s such a joy to make us feel like a famous pianist playing the music!
Wow! Beautiful playing by a beautiful lady. I love how you sing and dance as you play; how this is transferred in to the sound we hear. That incredible instrument positively sings with you! Bravo indeed Valentina!
The worst is when a pianist is playing music by Beethoven on a piano. The best--as here---is when Beethoven is speaking to us with a piano through a true pianist.
This is the best interpretation I never heard of the Sonata #30.Valentina,when do you think we could listen to the missing Sonatas? Goodbye and thank you for the pleasure you give us with your Music.
you are also one of the few pianists I have seen where you can see the music and its shape in your hands - one could watch them in silence and yet feel the expression
No matter what, I love your playing deeply. Now when tempi are supposed to be wrong and our friend Winters is making the versions after Czerny's marks I am, as many dilettanti, inclined to be in the middle. Please Valentina continue playing as it comes from your heart. That how it must be.
Having just listened to the version on Authentic Sound, I have to say this version by Valentina plays just right, to my ears. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with Authentic Sound on every tempi (and there may be other variables at work here) but, for this Sonata at least, this nails it just right. Also IMHO, Barenboim's version (who seems to think he is the absolute authority on these Sonatas) seems stale by comparison. Sorry - but well done Valentina!
Your playing I won't comment. Other knowledgeable people do that better. What I want to say is that the recording is fantastic! With (not so expensive) earphones I feel like almost being there. Thank you, Valentina, and keep up your tremendously well performed interpretations of good music!
NICE PLAYING, AND VERY DYNAMIC DISPLAYING ALL THE NATURAL CHANGES IN THE PIECE. IT ALSO SHOWS THAT BEETHOVE WAS MORE THAN A BIT MAD, BUT WE HAVE THIS INTIMATE VIEW OF HIS INNER SOUL, VERY WELL INTERPRETED HERE. I ENJOY ALL THE CHANGES IN TEMPI THROUGHOUT- AS IT SHOULD BE.
You are my favourite pianist, really. I love how you play the piano, the emotion and skills you show are amazing. I'm so glad I know you and can enjoy your talent. Keep it up !

Screw the critic, we ain't robot. Emotion is what makes a piece can sound beauty & unique to different pianist
Well said.
This is the best birthday gift I would have desired for today❤
Valentina, you are the best!

YOU, Crewelocoman are freaking Awesome!!! :D
Valentina, you bring light to a world slowly disappearing into darkness (again). Thank you.
One of my favorite Beethoven piano sonatas. The variations are sublime! Thank you. Thank you.
When I listen to this, I understand viscerally and literally what the description "breathtaking" means!
Thank you for this performance. #30 has been my favorite since I first heard it at age 17 in 1977. I'm hearing new things revealed in your performance that make it even more special.
MY FAVOURITE ONE YEAH !
Frumos, elegant, perfectiune♥️♥️♥️♥️🤩🙂🙂🤯🤯
Incredible i love this sonata
Like a dream 🌺🌷
Ain't no driving from this person in the back seat, just hands pressed to headphones, pushing them into my ears to block out all else but the sublime.
Thank you Valentina
It is impossible not to be amazed!
The delicacy with which you play the piano is incomparable!❤❤

A masterful interpretation and a fresh look that reinvents the work : what more could you ask for ? Once again a thousand bravos Valentina !
I enjoyed it from start to finish. It's my favorite Beethoven Piano Sonata.

Grazie a Valentina, grandissima pianista e artista.
Absolutely wonderful, loving your piano skills forever and always... Greetings from Chile 🥰
Finally "my" Valentina is back ... Wonderful🌹✨🌹✨🌹✨💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Wonderful performance. Thank you for your artistry and thank you for sharing
That dynamic range and control though!!! Amazing
Sublime. Thank you so much.
Thank you Valentina.Your playing brings a little brightness to our dark and dreary winter nights.
One more. Respect!! This is one of the first times i listened to a piece and a version that i wished would not stop
The 3rd movement brings me joy every time I hear it.

My dear, your way allows for the hearing of each note! Always your way, and not like those other people! Thankyou so much for your time and effort.
Best Beethoven ever !
Wow Valentina ! You are our queen of the piano. Your sonatas give happiness and incentive to go on living . Long live our queen.

Beautiful, it's a pleasure to listen to you ... thank you Valentine.
I believe this is the greatest interpretation of this piece. I love your choice of tempi and your control of dynamics.

Perfection
Hi Valentina. Some of the absolut better piano playing i have heard. A mature artist in total harmony with Ludwig. What a pleasure
Valentina your music is like breathing sonata...
Bravissima! 💖 Superba.

A sublimely beautiful and refreshing interpretation, thankyou Litisa.
