I saw Rory live back in the 70's ( I'm 77) and seen various tributes over the years.This is as close as it gets to Rory,vocal and playing,absolutely superb version. Incidentally, I believe that Rory's brother Donal has the original strat.Fender have made custom shop copies pretty much identical,Donal took it to the fender factory so they could photograph it from all angles front and back. I still miss him,perhaps I'll see him soon on the other side.R.I.P. Rory.
Hey just wanted to say very nice rendition of this Rory classic guys ! Such great tone from the Strat and the Bass player right in the pocket with solid drums holding the rhythm 🪘, I like the extended jam with the crowd singing the chorus. Well done ☮🙏☮🙏☮🎸

He was just amazing and he did this move with the string of the guitar where he reversed his hands so the right hand was on the fretboard and the left was picking, so he literally lifted the string off the fretboard like six inches and the other hand was tremolo picking and the sound that came out was like WHOA WHAM !!! 🎸 🎸 I had never seen that move before on guitar after seeing hundreds of Rock Concerts 🎸🎸, as they say Rory was the greatest guitarist that you never heard of ! This version is from Irish Tour 74 :) Respect for it guys.... it is extremely hard to do Rory's tone and technique it is so hard I do it since 2 years from now on and yet is not perfect... Really nice cover :)

Last year, me and my brother took him to see Gerry and Ted in Band of Friends, frogmarched him to the merch stand to get a photo (he would never have done it on his own!) And I swear I've never seen him so happy. And witnessing A Million Miles Away live... that will stay with me for many years to come. I swear it felt like Rory was there with us.

When the band continued while they already took the lights down on stage and put the lights on in the stadium. The guitar player does him honor. True plus apparently as +JP Ferraz pointed out above "21 frets on original. This is not a real '62 model." I just realised that I made this observation twice :)

I must say I find it kind of lame to: 1st - to make a superficial artificially worn out copy of the original 2nd - once making the stupid decision above - not bothering to reproduce the physical characteristics that would actually matter.

Marcel is the best of the Band of Friends guitar/vocalists. His 'own voice' but also conveying something of Rory's voice, as well as guitar.
