I've had a hp varmint .25 for 2 years and I love it, great gun, I've done quite a bit of custom work to it also some accuracy and performance enhancements it will hold a half dollar or less at 100 yards
Joe I've been shooting my own cast 34.5 grain Hunter Magnum Pellets from my 25 cal carbine since June 2021, I never get jambs, and the gun has been working perfect after close to a year of shooting it. I've shot 2 squirrels within 5 seconds of each other before, the gun is simply amazing in my opinion! The mold that I cast the pellets for this gun is NOE 250-34-RF. I only cast with pure 99% lead for all my airguns, haven't bought a tin of pellets in over 3 years now. Pure lead is best for airguns and I'm very much against all the alloys in commercial stuff for airguns.
When I worked at a tire store by the tire balancer their was a 5 gallon bucket of old lead weights if you cannot find lead in stores you can find wheel weights at tire stores or scrap metal yards, junk yards
Your the only guy with this same hp as mine. THANK YOU. I got 1 clip and no owner's manual. Butt, the things punches nice with a crap scope. I can group em within a nickel np. 10 shot rapid semi ... I love this one...
Just a little trick that I learned. When shooting multiple kinds of ammo one behind the other. It's best to take a couple sacrificial shots. off to the side to lead the barrel into the pellet that you're shooting. Your video is a perfect example of this. Although the last group you did the flyer wasn't that far off. Nevertheless every consecutive pellet went into the same hole give or take.
These have a good grouping even unloading a clip of 10 rapid fire. Left 1"- w×1.20" deep pocket of lead in a piece of 2×12 hard yellow pine. Not bad for a 24" carbine. She's a beauty... If you have a decent scope, you can group em at 75 yds no prob.
@@jamesmitchell5746 yes it's good. Get the aea..25carbine for self dfens. you won't regret it. Larger bore in "HP". For more power and distance shootn....Quiet and power for 2 .5 green coconuts with the husk on still. WHOA, strong enough for close range takedown of anything. Hit a quarter at 50yds no prob. with the HP. They even have .72zeus that cuts bricks in half& disintegrates a watermelon to nothing.
I'll take the results from the 27 yard indoor range. I find the older I get the less i enjoy the cold and especially the snow. I still cant believe how light the rifle is
I swapped the tank to carbon fiber, lighter and gives me a few extra shots. I blew a 2×4 into splinters today with new 33.5 grain slugs. Hollow point too.
im no youtube expert but every air rifle ive had including the fx's need to be shot with the new pellet being tried 5 or ten shots before you try to shoot the group for that pellet i always shoot 3, 5 shot groups and 9 out of 10 times the 3rd group is the smallest
27 yards is plenty. I zero at 22 yards out off my back porch. I don't usually shoot over to 100 yards, but everything works out great for me zeroing @ 22.
@@dangerous8333 what's your point. I know where my rifles group out to 150 in 25 yard increments. Most folks rarely shoot air past 50 anyway. 10 meters is the standard in the industry until recently from what I've seen. Fact is it works for me. What's that matter to you?
Great video. Very informative. I'm thinking about buy this exact air gun. How is it holding up now that it has been almost a year since the video was made? Many thanks.
Hi Mark, This rifle has held up extremely well and I have never had a problem other than it being a little finicky cycling the pellets. It is a great hunter also especially for the quick follow up shots. Hope this helps and Thanks for watching.
@@OutdoorsWithJoe Thank you for the reply. I'm in! Saving up for one. Do you recommend a specific vendor or source? Seems like there's a couple of outlets but I am looking for the one with best customer support. Thanks again.
Not bad. Though. A semi-auto that might not cycle reliably for semi-auto action? Kinda odd.. An air operated cycling system with an unit that prevents overpressure for ruining it maybe? But I do appreciate it being told even in the manual of it. Still not bad. Good video!👍
I have this airgun in .30 cal and the clip is very difficult to load. especially if you only have 1 hand. I left the other one in Vietnam. the bolt does not lock back and the bolt knob is too small and painful to operate. needs improvements, but it is accurate and powerful. seriously, I have to put the buttstock on the ground. balance the gun with my stump. step on the bolt handle, and try and get the clip in its proper place. I like my .357 max bolt action better. I have no problems with my ars', pistols, shotguns. if only they would improve the bolt on this gun with a lock back. even 2 handed people had difficulty loading this clip.
@@OutdoorsWithJoe I'm guessing they're about the same size, so they probably won't fit. Which is a shame, as they're great (hunting) pellets. Will penetrate hard and deep, making your gun a lot more 'powerful'. I don't really understand why airgun manufacturers can't make their mags a bit longer, you'd expect them to do some research regarding available pellet shapes and sizes while designing their guns.
