I'm sooo glad i got a well behaved cat: she didn't jump in the tree, didn't climb in the tree, didn't smack down ornaments, didn't chew on the lights and nor did she knock it down. The worst she did was sniff it and tried to rub her head all over it. I think she liked the lights bc she kept looking at them. I think I'm blessed because she is young and i though it would a nightmare with a teenage cat and a Christmas tree in one house but now our second Christmas together is around the corner and so far she doesn't care.
My two cat did the same with the tree. Just in case i make some fresh orange ornametns on the tree, bc they not like citrus smell, but nothing bad happened.
I still lived with my father the year I adopted my cat. I’m not sure what it says about my boyhood that it brought back a lot of Christmas memories to hear my dad randomly shout “Get outta there you idiot!”
If you have a cat, NEVER EVER put tinsel on the tree. It is deadly to them as they will eat it and can die when their digestive tract gets all screwed up.
My kitty LOVES to eat plastic! I found out when she passed A WHOLE GROCERY BAG! 😱 I’m so lucky she lived! (Now I’m extra careful! I’ve shoo-ed her away from the plastic straps on garbage bags, too! Thanks for the tinsel tip! I’m sure the little booger would go for them in an instant! Merry Christmas! 🎄 ✨

I was lucky. My kitty just liked to lay under the tree and look up at the light. He wasn’t interested in the least in climbing. A few low hanging ornaments met their demise through his curiosity but that’s about it
My cat just liked to SLEEP in the Christmas tree. I remember we kept wondering where the fuck she was after we set it up. Then my mom walked past the tree and said “Oh my God Sweetie Belle is sleeping in the tree”. Then she started to wake up after I came over and was really annoyed once we were all over there then gingerly climbed out without breaking anything. She’s broken a few ornaments but that’s really it. Chillest cat anyone will ever meet.
Just saw on social media of a woman's kitten climbing her tree, and got it's collar tangled on a branch. The kitten was wearing a breakaway collar, which unfortunately did not release, and the poor kitten was found dead. Please don't let your cats climb your tree. This year I have a new kitten and opted for no tree just to be safe.
I will opt for no CAT just to be safe! I'm not getting rid of years of tradition for a cat, so the cat my husband saved gets a pass this holiday and no decorations this year but she will not be in my home for the holidays next year!
@ I get that you love your decorations. I, too, have decades of cherished ornaments. But, my little girl is now “grown up” & I love her very much. Her safety is my priority. This year she is out of her kitten phase & has left my tree alone after a few sniffs of it. I put it up, undecorated 3 weeks, so she could get used to it just being there. For me, it’s worked. Of course, cats come in all personalities, but yours might settle down in another year. But, good luck, and Merry Christmas!
I have had cats all my life. I learned to put the true trunk in a bucket and then fill it with rocks. It won’t tip over. Cheap plastic ornament were on the bottom so they could swat them. Clearly these cat parents didn’t read rule # 1 of Christmas tree installation in a cat home: “set up tree and wire it it the ceiling before applying any decorations”. Makes the holiday sooo much safer for all to enjoy! Great compilation! Just the thing to watch with a hot cup-a…..thanks! May everyone watching have a peaceful and joyous holiday season! 🎄
We used to anchor the tree on the floor (if you have hardwood flooring you can easily place two small nails in two opposite sides and then tie two strings from the middle of the tree to the nails) or tied to the furniture or window. Let the fur babies enjoy the Christmas tree! Or place something heavy like 2-3 bags of cat litter on the tree stand and cover them with the tree skirt.
Mine liked to sleep under the tree last year (not so much this year) We had to move the baby Jesus to make room for her, lol. Luckily she doesn't show interest in the tree.
My loves the christmas lights and loves to look at christmas tree-her eyes gleaming as of child! But she never ever tried to climb it. Does complain though if it is turned off during night. She loves to sleep on sofa next to it.
These people don't make sense they are videotaping the cat getting in the tree and then they get mad when the tree falls down. You should have stopped your cat if you didn't want it to fall down. Theirs no use in getting mad if all you’re going is sitting there videotaping it.
Absolutely! Cats like to climb trees and Christmas trees aren't exactly rooted deeply once they've been chopped down and installed inside a house... and then there's all the tempting baubles for them to play with. Cat vs Christmas tree? Cat's going to win!
Spray bottle, clapping, the voice, and if needed a light swat on the butt. My two are well behaved and very loveable even after getting their bum spanked once in a blue moon as kitten.
My sister’s 2nd cat gets into the Christmas Tree. She moved a branch and there the cat was. When I was a kid my family 2 cats lied under the tree. I even did go under the tree to cuddled with one of the cats.

Put the Christmas tree in the corner and tie it to heavy furniture on both sides. Also, you can put heavy stuff over each foot of the tree and never use breakable balls. I put a tree outside on a porch, with ziplocs of gravel over each foot and 50 balls on the tree. In a couple of days, there were 4 balls left on the tree, but the tree was still standing.
My cats are good with the tree. One is old and just likes to nap under the tree, and the other one stays away from him because she knows he’s the alpha.

Ok Maybe its just me, but if any of my cats over the years, and theres been alot of years, ever attempted to go at the Christmas tree like this, their first attempt was their last attempt. A loud voice and spray bottle did the trick. Trees, real or artificial, as well as decorations, are to darn expensive to become a cat toy. Ive just never seen the humor in it
Trees with electric lights and glass bulbs are dangerous for your pets. Until your kitty outgrows these behaviors, you can "cat-proof" your tree. I use soft ornaments, made out of felt or material, small wooden ornaments, pine cones. Not glass that will break when kitty knocks them down - she thinks they are toys. For lights, I added a couple of those light-up necklaces. It is a very pretty tree, but you still have to watch your kitty, especially if he starts to chew on anything, like ribbon. ❤🐱🎅
It's almost unfair to have a Christmas tree in the house with cats. The cats' biology and psychology works against them: tree, check. Toys hanging from the tree, check. Places to hide in the branches, check. Bright lights, check. And their little brains must be deciding that there's likely animals hidden in there somewhere, too. This is basically locking a freshly sober alcoholic inside a liquor store.
I love how everybody's giggling and filming the cats playing with the tree and then they're so surprised and oh my gosh when the tree comes down LOL
Yeah, they sure are dumb
You'd think these were...staged?🤔
I always tie my tree to something stable when I have a cat. No tinsel.....no flocking and no small ornaments.
Exactly! But I also noticed a common theme in all the videos….#staged

Hunting instinct, they climb up the tree and jump on the prey
A tree is catnip to a cat. Proceed at your own risk.
