Tyrannosaurus having a much broader skull than Tarbosaurus is actually a myth (probably based on subadult or poorly preserved Tarbosaurus specimens). In reality, Tarbosaurus had a snout about as broad as Tyrannosaurus relatively speaking but a narrower back of the skull.

I remember seeing the Tarbosaurus in Zdenek Burian's book "Life before man".
It looked monumental. I later realised that the artist managed to make it look so huge by simply putting the horizon very low, but it's still epic, especially with that pose. Poor T-rex got the opposite treatment. He put the horizon line behind it's shoulders, so it appeared as it's not much taller than 2-2,5 meters (in that classic kangaroo pose). Perspectice is such an interesting artistic tool.

Now it was still a little less wide than the T. rex skull, however, the idea that Tarbosaurus’ eyes were more to the side is false. It was a true Tyrannosaurine and would’ve possessed a very powerful bite.

But this was in the 1940s.

Honestly? It makes perfect sense why Tarbosaurus didn't have binocular vision, while T-Rex did, Tarbosaurus didn't need to dodge as many trees.

One thing that may explain the eyesight between Asian and American tyrannosaurs is that places like Mongolia where more arid so seeing prey in dense vegetation wouldnt be a sought after trait since more prey wouldn't be there anyways, but in the North American floodplains it would be beneficial to have great eyesight to see in the dark and forested swamps. (Along side rex having to face ceratopsians and even bigger Hadrosaurus so eyesight woulda helped avoid horns and hooves)
