1:19:35 As someone who daily drives 16:10 panels I respectfully disagree for gaming and media. You must letterbox for the full horizontal field of view (HOR+) else the sides of your viewpoint are cut off for all intents and purposes. And DSR doesn't work with 16:10 panels in 16:9 resolutions anymore. Hasn't in a few years. I long for LED backlit 16:9 panels that don't drive up my electric bill $25 a month with their power hungry CCFLs. For work? Yes they are the superior option, giving you space for menus and taskbars while editing 16:9 content. But for everything outside of web browsing and productivity? In 2024 they fucking suck.
The 800 series motherboards from AMD won't even be available at launch of Ryzen 9000 chips and the chip sets themselves are unchanged from the 600 series... It's just a spec bump on the mobo traces and a number bump on the chip sets.
I want/need a desktop built around a MI300A (yes A not X), basically making this the main APU for the system instead of an accelerator. Any additional RAM is expanded via CXL PCIe addon boards though this should not be needed. Now, question is, where can I get me such a motherboard using the MI300A as an APU?
How do you criticise AI while pulling no punches against it... It's 'guessing algorithms' and nothing else. Engineers gave up and started guessing.. if it's too slow they shout "more power!".
Id expect at least initially for arc to compete with amd. It's going to be the diy sphere. Might seem good for Nvidia at least initially but if both do scoop up enthusiasts, I would hope mind share and pre built to follow
Zen5 CCD are on TSMC N4P, I think it's just 6% denser than the N5P Zen4 uses and not offering much performance. The actual chip is still a Media Tek Promontory 21, it's basically just a PCIE HUB, X570 Bixby was actually an IOD with fused off funcionality. According to Wccftech a PCIE4 lowend 840 board with Promontory 19 is also coming.
I saw an interview on PCworld with Intel represents. And I am quite sure at least one of the tiles is actually made by Intel in Lunar Lake. Not that it matter much. Also I will say Zen 5 is quite a major update to the silicon. It is not just a refresh

16:35 ~ "Who is going to but a 9950X when they know a 3d part is coming?"
Me ~ that's who.

Question to the PCPer crew. So how many of you are on Win 11 or on Win 10?
