I’ve got this on my TBR, which is endless of course. Sounds like 30 Days of Night.
This is quite different to 30 Days of Night. I think 30 Days of Night is just pure horror with vampires rampaging through the town. This is more about the murder mystery - the horror is there of course, but it's not gruesome, it's probably more suspense horror for the most part.
But the setting described in both is very similar.
