A superb recording of a superb organ by an equally superb artist. This recording must have been one of the very last long-playing 33 1/3 r.p.m. stereophonic records issued, because 1983 was the year that saw the official launch of the Sony-Phillips compact disc digital format. Never again would we see such loving artwork as went into the publishing of this LP recording, replete with detailed text in three languages and glorious photographs which the 12-inch-diameter LP record's album art made possible. Although CDs were published with detailed texts, one would need a magnifying glass to read them. I'm glad that you at Historic Organ Recordings have found and are presenting here this fine album art as well as the great recordings found within. Now it's the compact disk that has all but disappeared from the marketplace - whereas the LP record business is thriving by comparison in the middle of this third decade of the 21st century.
Indeed! German and French names sometimes sound delightfully humorous to English speakers -- 20 or so years ago, a radio announcer, about to air a piece from Weingarten said "And this extraordinary organ will be played by the splendidly named Edgar Krapp!" By 2014, Herr Krapp was actually quite portly, playing at St Sulpice in commemoration of Marie-Claire Alain. ruclips.net/video/E6UO1wHSOgs/видео.html

I have to add that his organ playing is VERY NICE....
This was recorded after der great restautation of the organ by Kuhn in 1983.
The King of Instruments - Mozart's moniker for the organ.
Except.... that one's named the Queen of Instruments
