It’s another stellar day at the Long River Sessions, Houston’s premier showcase for local talent, where artistry meets charm-and where, miraculously, we manage to get through the chaos Masaya calls “organization.” This week, we’re thrilled to feature Taylor Renee, whose soulful voice and intimate songwriting take center stage in an unforgettable performance.
Taylor opens with Loneliness Cure, a poignant reflection on self-discovery and boundaries. She follows up with Call a Friend, a freshly written gem that feels like a candid conversation with your closest confidant. Closing the session is Houston Streets, an evocative ode to the city that’s as unpredictable as Taylor’s globetrotting journey-and as heartfelt as her lyrics.
Taylor’s interview with Rico and Masaya (well, mostly Rico) offers rich insights into her upbringing in Houston’s jazz and theater scenes, her years of busking around the globe, and her reentry into the spotlight, complete with forays into anime voiceover work.
