Gordeau bit Royce in ‘93 and lost. Then blinds Yuki and loses in ‘95. As a result Jedi correctly wipes Gordeau’s Dutch heritage and makes him French. Bravo, sir 🫡
I also wouldn’t call Nakai JJ man back then. His background was in kosen judo at Hokkaido univ
And apparently 5’6” 😂 Amazing video Jedi, both entertaining and I even learned something new 👍🏻
probably confused it because of Gordeau's "savate" background and the Dutch were heavily influenced by French so the last name is probably french.
@@yn5568 thank you, Nakai was a Kosen guy. there's so much misinformation out there, especially revolving around Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (especially Gracies)
Gordeau is a horrible human being so of course he’s Fr*nch
That Yuki Nakai vs Gordeau fight happened during the event that the Rickson Gracie documentary "Choke" was filmed. Yuki had three fights that night. The eye gouge from Gordeau happened in the first fight. He went on to defeat his second opponent Pittman, again much, much larger via armbar. He lost to Rickson in his third fight of the night. Yoki Nakai is a legend!
I watch that documentary way back in the day. One of the reasons I started training
@@jedidoesjiujitsu3177 Yeah I watched it shortly after I started training BJJ. It is for sure worth watching again. Fantastic film.
Rickson knew what happened with his eye and felt bad for Yuki, so when they fought he he didn't punch him in the face, just using his grappling technique to win
@@lrodrigues7488 I know! Rickson's team was telling him not to take it easy and to press his advantage. Despite the encouragement he did not cause further injury to Yuki. It was this moment that the respect that I have for Rickson solidified.
I found out about it in Rickson Gracie's Breathe: A Life in Flow book that came out recently. Respect.
I love this type of content. Killer video as always!
Thank you so much for putting the work in for this project. This was classic Jedi content we love. Please never stop. The sport is growing and you will grow with it. You have a voice in the community and with stuff like this you’re making killer moves
Appreciate that!
As an older jujitsu player ,I grew up watching VHS tapes in the early 2000,s so I was lucky to see or at least hear/read about most of these things unfold .I have to say impressed with your knowledge on the history of the sport and your video is pretty much on point .Keep up the good work .
Appreciate that!
@@jedidoesjiujitsu3177 you know what was also funny the time caio terra one his match and said he wanted to prove that you can win without the steroids 🤣.
Btw am from Trinidad and Tobago and I will be at your seminar next year in Tobago ..boom 🤯
im a simple man, i see a jedi does jits video i immediately watch it.
PS : After watching it - amazing video as always, successfully managed to outline pretty much all of the saucy stuff one needs to know
All the sauce you’ll ever need
Really enjoyed this entire video! As someone who's been practicing a bit over a year now, this information just makes me want to train. Love the long form video and how you kept things fresh the entire way, always love to see you trying something new!
Even though I’ve already seen pretty much all of this content, it was cool to see it all grouped together and presented well. Thank you
Wow, and this was such an amazing video! The deeper you go better it gets
Awesome video, enjoyed it a lot. Thanks for all the work making it.🤙
Excellent!!! Definitely looking forward to even more vids
Commentating in front of a turntable in a suit jacket holding a wolfhead long-sword. This channel never disappoints. 10/10
It was the epitome of try hard cringe
A good thing to add would be about the Japanese ju jutsu death matches from 1800. These matches would be so intense the competitors would write goodbye letters to their family incase they never came back. The more you read into it seems like that's where the early gracie challenge/bjj format comes from.
where can a i read about this?
@@hoguerafilms1079 there's a RUclips channel called chadi he has a video called 1800 Japanese ju jutsu death matches the source should be there
If it's in RUclips must be true, as u know jiu jitsu used be another name to call judo, so probably u just looking judo...BJJ was made in Brazil
@@thallesferreira_ bjj IS JUDO!
@@thallesferreira_ yes.. and before it was BJJ, it was Judo (Ju-Do), and before that it was Jiujitsu (Ju-Jitsu).
Good to see you're still making videos Jedi Master. You're one of my favorite content creators bc you're hilarious and still get the point across.
Your energy is awesome! Always makes me smile as soon as I see a new upload 🙂🙌
Quality content Jedi!! Love your videos!
Ken Shamrock made leg locks an ankle locks, the most famous actually
Been watching Jordan for a while, found his roll with you, and enjoyed your take very much. Humour keeps it fresh. Subbed, cheers
Great video, coverage and fun style e.g. love the sword blooper hitting the ceiling. Thank you
Awesome content. Loved the DS3 Nameless King boss music! Lol classy, subtle, perfect.
Very cool. Loved this! I didn’t know all the cool deep dive stuff having only been around the jitsu game for a few years now. Grats on the NAGA belt, that’s impressive.
This was epic. And Jedi, you have real comedy potential. In which comedy clubs are you workshopping some five minute sets? Keep up the good work.
What got me into BJJ was seeing a flying arm bar. Little did I know that I am about 10 years away from doing one but I an determined.
Love this video!! You just earned a subscriber.
Great job! I like the long format too. I still like the shorter ones so do both and see what works. OSS!
Great video, anyone would enjoy it, bjj or not. Your humour and editing skills are second to none!
loved the vid, missed you dog glad u back
Nice! love the Iceberg videos..I can see a part 2 int the future.....
You are putting in a lot of work for your videos!🎉🎉
You’re such a natural bro ! Love It.
As I'm new in bbj I'm training alot each week focusing on closed guard as I'm forcing closed guard sparring to learn it deeper as jumping into sparring only knowing a few positions at the beginning was alot harder to find success. Learning everything I have inside the closed guard for me has been so fun and intresting. Its my style for now and it's 1 dimensional but it's getting better and it's helped tremendously at understanding the game itself as its so deeply rooted.
You're a legend man, thanks so much putting this together.
One day when you remake this video, you should add four fights to the bottom level:
Helio soneca vs Megaton Diaz, both 1 and 2. Two high level world champions.
Renzo Gracie vs Eugenio Tadeo. Major no-holds-barred showdown in Brazil between rival clans and styles, BJJ and Luta Livre. Fight resulted in actual violence and rioting.
Rickson vs Hugo Duarte on the beach in Brazil. This fight and the fight between Renzo and Tadeo were the pinnacles of the BJJ vs Luta war.
very informative video !! I love jiujitsu even more now
Freaking epic bro! Great video!
Yuki Nakai is my absolute favorite Jiu Jitsu story. Absolute legend, and perfect choice of layers IMO!
Huge inspiration for me. His performance from 95 has a ring to it that Rickson’s just doesn’t
Yah my knowledge is deep :) Good video!
this video was awesome! good stuff!
Well there you are!! I stopped looking for a minute! took you long enough to post another video lol! missed ya bud! ✌️🤙
Great content boiiii :D
Great vid brotha
That was absolutely terrific! Thanks!
Excellent vid!!!
Excellent video brother 🤙
Bro Keenan's infamous stomp guard pass versus the almost unpassable guard of Paulo Miyao was an unbelievable moment. Also, Lo's Copa Podio run!
Noted
One of the best BJJ videos ever!
🙏
Great video idea, haven’t watched whole thing yet so apologies if explained, but:
In addition to details about Gordeau blinding Nakai in one eye, I’d also say that, although Nakai went on to become godfather of BJJ in Japan with Paraestra dojos, at the time of Choke Nakai had nothing to do with BJJ and was a pure shootwrestler with a Kosen judo background.. Losing to Rickson then inspired his BJJ journey.
I've neeever been this early before. Stoked it's my guy Jedi! 🤘🤘🤘
Let’s go
Hey Jedi! Nice video(s) and cool samurai T-shirt, do you mind asking what is that? Thanks & greetings from Finland!
Yo keep up the comedy Jedi im learning and laughing at the same time haha
That DS soundtrack... noice
nice touch amazing work
nice video! another forgotten gem is Genki Sudo, competed in some local nogi tournaments that are on youtube aswell
Bro that was so cool Thankyou man 👊
Kron vs Garry is a wicked sick match
No doubt
My favorite ADCC match of all time.
Quality content, thanks for the education sir!
Yuki Nakai actually started off with Kosen Judo and Shooto not Japanese Jiujitsu 😅
I love this video! Some great memories. 🙂
Amazing video bro OSs ✊
finally a longer video!!!
Amazing info, you speak pretty well too.
Even for the BJJ nerds, this was a fun watch. Great content, Jedi!
One of the best creators in the sport@
“If my boy leans into this joke any harder.. he’s gonna fall” LMAO

Great video, thanks!
Man, the 4th layer needed a "Jedi" starts his channel styling with that 🔥 bjj
Awesome video dude
Thanks
Fantastic Job!
Man you have to be a different kind of badass like Yuki Nakai get eyegouged and still continue to fight and win the match. you literally cant see out of 1 eye jesus
Great one senior Jedi
I love the discrete tribute to Danaher in the shape of the Champion fanny pack. Very nice ;)
Lmao
Loved every second
Awesome watch! Thank you.
Great vid, I just wish you mentioned Wallid Ismail.
Clever work, Jedi! Osu! Very clever! Scary clever! P@
wtf, ive watched like 100 plus of ur vids and just realized im not subbed! Well fixed that! Appreciatte the content!
best video of my fucking life. cheers from a mountain in bogota colombia lighting a joint, training and repeat.
That was very fun to watch
"The peak of my tryhard era" haha, we all had that moment in our jiujitsu journey 🥲
Truuuue
What gym do you train at dude? You remind me of the crowd I used to roll with in London and I'd train with you in a heartbeat but I moved to NorCal and I didn't find anywhere that felt like I could make it home. I'm guessing you're a socal boy.
Good video, very creative. Feeling hungry though, off for a trenbologna sandwich and homemade pizza.✌🏽
Let’s make some
Bro I see you rocking that NAGA belt. I’m competing at NAGA Vegas in February. You going?
This video taste funny, I feel like you just said the same thing 10x. Also this is coming from a life long wrestler have at me lol
Saw you had Vsauce goin in another video, and now Chubbyemu... hehe
21:21 I was tryna figure out why that name sounded familiar; dude came to my jiu jitsu gym, super cool dude
masahiko kimura fought helio gracie and submitted him with a move that would later be trade marked by helio as the "kimura lock" however this was to save face for the gracie clan, the kimura lock already had a name in catch wrestling.. the double wrist lock. this move from helio worked as he walked away with his reputation fully intact and then added the move to the gjj moveset.
Well said. Kimura also trained as a Pro Wrestler. Which in those days there were legit Catch Wrestlers like Billy Robinson and Karl Gotch. Gotch was Judo Gene Le Bell's Catch Wrestling Coach. My understanding, is that Judo, back in the days of Kimura, lacked proper ground work, as it was very limited. Both Kimura and Gene Le Bell had the trade mark of Catch Wrestling added to their style of Judo.
@@1_Bad_Z kimura was a wrestling by name, not a judoka primarily this was another way for helio to save face for gjj, not admitting catch wrestling was superior, only that he was a mult sport athlete better at a specific hold basically.
@@ophiuchus5613 i get what you're saying.
Are you familiar with Catch Wrestler Ad Santel and his bouts with Judo stylist?
Maybe we can see a future video.
@@1_Bad_Z one of the goats, and it would be really cool to see a video on catch, sadly its an art thats dying out quickly. and most practitioners gatekeep it from the public, unlike bjj for example. I do catch at a local gym with only like 10 people in it, i love the sport, and imo is superior to bjj but is falling out of style.
@@ophiuchus5613 yup exactly.
I've also trained in Catch under Raul Ramirez from Catch Wrestling Alliance in Southern California. Prior to that back in 2008; I would watch Tony Chechin on RUclips and would apply the holds @ a Judo Club during open sparring sessions.
Good vid
BJJ iceberg, definitely clicking. Better still that it's Jedi.
I’m 14 probably been doing jujitsu for maybe a month or a month and a half now and How long does it usually take to get your blue belt also I’ve noticed that some of the other white belts have stripes on the belt what does that mean also does it matter that I am the only minor in my jujitsu classes?
Great vid, onlybhalfway through but I noticed something... the whole iceburg isin't a pic of danaher?
7:31 "With the notourious acl collector" LMAO
The use of elden ring and dark souls soundtracks are so perfect
Yoo we have the same curtains! Curtains of champions! 😤😅
Joining a Gracie academy this month. Was procrastinating because I broke my nose last year but let’s do it!
If they dont let you roll, dont walk, run
@@alexanderpaskal1387 A lot of places don't let you roll for the first week or two until they see you know break falls and other basics, and can restrain yourself and won't kick someone in the face
And then some gracie gyms wont let you roll til you're a "blue belt" - those are the ones I'm referring to
@@alexanderpaskal1387 lol what, how the fuck are you even supposed to get to blue belt without rolling
If you ever make a part 2 I think you should include Roger Gracie cross-choking everyone from mount at IBJJF worlds
Everyone knew it was coming and no one could stop it. Legend!!!!
