As a diesel mechanic I specifically bought a trail boss with the 6.2L. Diesels are meant for towing. If the truck does not stay hooked up to a heavy trailer, there’s no point in the diesel. The initial cost, maintenance, and expensive parts will outweigh your fuelfuel savings
I have 2.7L I don’t mind it, decent mpg, smooth and quick. Perfect to throw the bikes or kayaks in the back. Crazy it has 430lb-ft of tq and the 2500 hd 6.6L gasser has 464 lb-ft tq.
I'd argue 3.0 > 6.2/2.7 > 5.3. The 2.7 and 5.3 are essentially the same performance wise, but the 2.7 is cheaper. The 6.2 while technically better is 93 recommended so bleh on cost of fuel. 3.0 is king though.
I inspect and reject faulty engine blocks at GM, 5.3 l is a great engine. But don’t buy one if the engine casting is from Mexico. The only ones I have to reject are Toluca blocks from Mexico. They have porosity ball inside, and on the head deck. If you get the 5.3 make sure the engine block is made by defiance. Much more reliable American made cast metal. Also the 6.3 is sick bc it’s the same block the vet uses the c8. Except it has 4 mounting bolts on each side instead of 3 like the mid engine vet. The only thing that’s different is the truck 6.3 has more oil fume seperate valves it has 8 vet has 4
The 4-cylinder's towing capacity is higher because it weighs less. The electric can tow 12,000 pounds for 100 miles and then needs to charge for 2 hours.
The 6.2 Is #1 Because It My Favorite Engine With A Max Trailering Package And A 10 Speed 3.42.

Maybe 50 years ago sure, but these modern diesels are not all designed with the idea people will tow with them

I have the 5.3 3.42 gearing. I got no complaints. Even though i wish I had the 6.2.
We need to gather together the mechanics in the service dept and ask those guys. That’s the answer.

You're incorrect on the diesel numbers. Those are the numbers for the LM2 3.0, the 2024 trucks have the updated LZ0 3.0, which has 305HP and 495lb-ft.
I appreciate the correction!
@@YTJoshuaMcDonald No problem! Apolgies if that sounded annoying or condescending. Otherwise it's a great video and thank you for putting it together!
Not at all! It’s how I learn. Thank you!
3.0 Duramax all day.. Love mine..
Damn no 4.3 sucks
GREAT COMPARISON
3.0 duramax has more power than 6.2 gas engine and i know it true cuz i own both
That's Why It Has 495 LBS Feet Of Torque.

3.0 diesel

Electric is "King for towing" as long as you only need to tow something to your neighbor's house...
No new engine will be as good as the old gen 6.2 LS.
6.2 v8 all day
A little bit less? LMAO, 20 vs 14. I call that a LOT LESS.
Does the 6.2L have any shared parts with the corvette 6.2L? (Nice comparison vid 👍 )
Well it doesn't matter because they'll all die with in 5 years
Sure bud
