I listen to you today (2/14/2024- Happy Valiant Human Day! - my renaming of Valentines' Day) while I do the hand finishing on a luxurious cashmere coat I am altering for a customer. I loved hearing the Rumi poem. Thank you, It is one of my favorites. I keep it on the inside of my front door. Here is another of my favorite quotes that I have returned to again and again to to help me cultivate neutrality, and freely Loving myself and Other. It is by William Blake; - " He who bends to himself a Joy, does the winged Life destroy, but he who kisses the Joy as it flies, lives in Eternity's sunrise. "

Thank you for the little lesson in not judging all that we see and experience. And instead come with an open & neutral mind with no expectations.
We can never fully experience a thing if we have a preconceived notion of what that something is. Instead, we can just trust and allow things to be revealed in their own way. ❤

I entered the Nordic KAL and have uploaded my finished object in Ravelry, the Franky Sweater by Sandnes Garn knitted in Borstet Alpaca. A lovely poem to begin your podcast. I am also attracted to yarns for their names, and sometimes, put off yarns for the same reason. Such beautiful knits again in this podcast. It was a treat to see inside Loop. I could spend hours in yarn shops, almost as long as I can spend in book shops! I enjoyed the many and varied words on knitting. Thank you for your company while I sit and knit. And I love cables. I would try to take part if you did another knitalong, I was too late for this one.

Wow, everything you said at the beginning all just hit me exactly where I needed today. I know this was a couple of weeks ago, but it was for me today. Thanks for your words of wisdom 🙏. I'm a knew knitter. I'm maybe 1 month into this fun hobby. I am so that person who buys wool and yarn because I love it with no plan at all. I've finally understood why that is not ok 😕. But you're right. You like the things you like. I've done a couple of cable things for my first projects, and anyone who's a pro knitter looks at me asking cable already? I didn't know why they looked at me like that until now. Apparently, I jumped head first into knitting. I get bored of easy stiches, so I do need something different as I go. I've done maybe 10 hats but using super bulky yarn so I can see a project finish and fill accomplish faster. I want to work on so many things but only have two hands. 😕 I really just want to practice making things just so i can get into sweaters and lacy tops. My favorite items I want to make are sweaters that are very female looking. Something with bell sleeves and a very beautiful look to it. That you know a woman wears it. That's my kind of look. Thanks for your videos. I've watched a few of your videos now and love listening to you talk. ❤

Helle in terms of your cardigan decision - I like the Madeleine cardigan. I think that the playful quality of the cardigan will complement the beautiful colourful yarn you have chosen. I also like the second one you illustrated - I forget the name but it was blue. It’s not too busy and I think its simplicity would be agreeable to your yarn selection. Good luck,😊

One of my words is "Generational" I often think to myself when I am knitting of women throughout history sitting around in fellowship with other women knitting and creating for survival. The socks for war, the sweater for comfort, the hat for the cold. I reflect that as I stitch, women all over the world now are creating as women have done for centuries before. It feels like a string connects us all through time and space. Anyway, that is my thought. Thank you for the continued inspiration and education.

Beautiful knits, as always! I feel so drawn to the nordic style. And I also love knitting cables and mostly use a cable knit. Makes my knitting slower, but for me the result looks better. Crossing stitches without a needle is okay when it is only one stitch, but with a four stitch cable I definitly prefer the extra needle. Otherwise my cables don't look tidy and I confess: I am a perfectionist.

I really like the inserts you made showing how you work cables. It's helpful for some of us beginners to see it rather than trying to read about it. BTW, yes, I agree that the purple cable sweater's sleeves are rather voluminous. I think it will overwhelm the wearer unless you are 6 feet tall. Again, thanks for sharing your knowledge. As it is the height of Summer here in west Australia, I am enjoying cables, as I am on square 2 of Norah's Vintage Afghan, 20 squares knit in pieces with 20 individual travelling stitch/cable stitch design for the squares. Each square is a little win, and a learning opportunity, and they will be seamed together at the end the year. I will get back to garments etc when the weather cools down.

Hi Helle! I’m back with my usual wall of text, but there’s just so much I want to respond to. 😂
I did exactly the same thing with vests. I would see them in my Ravelry travels and think “Nice, but not for me”, until I ran across the Dige Vest (made with Woolfolk Fleck) and fell in love. I made one, and it has become one of my very favorite pieces, so now I never discount any category completely. Lesson learned. 😏
Re: Stubbornness and so forth - YES. My daughter is Autistic, and one of the things we work on is flexibility. If you can’t have exactly the thing you want, there’s a lot to be said for making do with what you can have, or “going with the flow” so to speak. It makes for a much more peaceful and enjoyable life if you’re not walking around miserable all the time, and you can open yourself to new things and experiences. I try to not judge anything or anyone until I have a lot of information, and even then - life is complicated, and I don’t necessarily believe anything is “good” or “bad”. There’s a lot more to it than that.
Re: steeking - I know nothing about the subject, I'm afraid, so can't offer advice, but I look forward to seeing where you take it!
I found out after knitting my Nordic knitalong project that I can't wear baby alpaca, even with a long sleeved shirt underneath it. Sooooo, I completely relate to your sensitive skin issues - I am quite the delicate flower myself. 🤣
All of your work is beautiful, but wow, that shawl is incredible! I’ve never looked twice at that pattern before, but the color you chose is stunning. There’s a real depth to it I’ve never seen in any of the project pictures. 😍
I think Loop of London is adorable! I follow them on Instagram, and I would love to be able to pop over for a visit someday. Their shop looks very sweet and cozy.
If you ever need a Woolfolk mule, just let me know. They’re semi-local to me, so my favorite yarn shop stocks all of their stuff, and we don’t pay sales tax here, so it would just be actual yarn cost + shipping. ☺
Thank you for another lovely video that kept me company while I knit!
    🥰

Hello Helle, I, too, have purchased yarn because I like the name - more than once. Last year at a yarn festival I bought a colorway called "Stay Gold, Ponyboy" which is a line from an American novel written in the 60s, The Outsiders. It was my favorite book when I was young (I think it's called a tween - older than 9 but younger than 13?). Coppola made the book into a movie in the 80s but I already had my vision of all the characters and scenes years before he made the film. I spent a bit of time picking my favorite skein from those available on the table and put some gold sequins in the cuff of the socks I knitted. Another great podcast. I really enjoy your musings. - Katy (yarn: Bigfoot Yarn Company, Wendigo Sock base)

I knit the Ruuvdu Cowl by the Finnish designer Susanna Kaartinen. The pattern was part of the 52 Weeks of Shawls book. I’m grateful that this KAL inspired me to look through patterns I already had and find one I might not have otherwise chosen to knit. I love the end result and as soon as I finished it last November I immediately wore it (hadn’t even woven in the ends yet!). It’s so cozy and warm and was perfect under my jacket for a blustery day on the south Jersey bayshore.

I think navy blue is a universally flattering color, but lately I’ve decided to knit with the colors that make my heart sing. (No good or bad colors in keeping with your opening sentiment.)
Helle, you are such an inspiration and a pleasure to spend time with. Thanks so much for sharing. Take good care.

Loved taking part in #nordicknitalong exploring Nordic knitwear designers. I discovered and knit patterns from Anne Ventzel (Klint Classic), Sari Nordlund (Colette Scarf and Turtle Dove Shawl)
and Penny gloves byPetiteknit. It was so much to find so many beautiful designs for the future potential knits. Thank you so much for this lovely adventure. With love Liga.

Beautiful podcast. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on creating a connectiveness and being aware that judgement causes separation. It is my beliefs as well. It breaks my heart a little each time when I hear people I care about, judge. I am so aware now that there is alot of that going on right now. I just want to spread kindness-no judgement zone. Happy knitting friend! 🧶🤍✨

Subscriber here. With each episode I grow more fond of your style of presenting, although I am a cable-avoider. At the moment at least. So true how we change from one season or time to the next. Love your foray into colors!! I am short of stature and so must be mindful of the positive ease so as not to look too sloppy. Thank you for the calm and accepting/open tone with which you describe your knitting journey. It helps me. 😊

Hej Helle! Again, you are so inspiring and thanks for your thoughts on the different types of yarn you knit with. As a beginner knitter with sweaters (until recently I just knit socks) I love the Holst Garn I bought during my last vacation in 🇩🇰. So many colours to choose from and its ideal to try different styles and patterns. I have a sweater for a friend on my needles in a blue heather color. 🌟

It seems to be Danish week for me this week. 🇩🇰
I went to a concert of the lovely Danish women's folk band "Vesselil" from Fyn in Berlin the other day. And now I'm listening to your latest podcast episode.

I've enjoyed your podcast as always. I am planning or hoping to knit both the cardi cocoon and the Aegyoknit Isager Archives piece! I love that you have gotten into the bright colors from LBA as well as the neutrals. They are the same colors that I gravitate toward! I did participate in the Nordic KAL. I knitted the Roses and Thorns shawl by Christel Seyfarth. It was such a joy to knit. I've wanted to knit one of her pieces forever, and I finally have the confidence in my color work to do so. I hope to knit more of her designs. I used to knit tons of cables -- they were my first love, until I got into color work. Now color work dominates what I do. But I hope to get back to cables sometime this year -- I do love them. I love that you and Laerka live so close to each other -- and Aegyoknit as well! So great! I hope you will let us know when and if you all manage to get together again. It's fun to hear about! Oh, and I l have been to Loop London a few times -- each time I was in London. I'd love to visit some of the other shops that have opened there recently, as you mentioned. Take care!

Hello. I really enjoy every minute of your podcasts.
I'm going to take a look at that gorgeous armour shawl. I've been off shawls for awhile but feel drawn to that one. It's beautiful as are all of your knits. Thank you.

Hi Helle, Thank you for your podcast. I always enjoy watching it here from Texas. It does make me miss Denmark, but it was fun to participate in the #nordicknitalong. I knitted the Diamond sweater twice, since I ruined the first one. Then I also knitted the C2 (Cable 2) and SSK (Slip Slip Knit) both by Helga Isager with yarn purchased at the Isager store in Tversted. Regards, Helle

So enjoyable to share some knitting time with you! Thanks again for a lovely podcast. Every time I watch your podcast I find myself adding another sweater pattern to my wish list. This time it is the Cardi Cocoon. Just finished the Moby sweater by Petite Knit in Sweet Georgia yarn which is local to me.

Hi Helle, I just realized I did participate, knitting the Gunta cowl by Helga Isager, and I used all yarn that I naturally dyed with mushrooms, and I spun all the contrast colours as well. It turned out very well, and I am super happy with it😊 and I can’t wait for the Isager archive collection!

That fantasy comment really hit home! Of course I don’t think about wearing my latest knit as I wipe the kitchen surfaces or sweep the balcony … I’m an indescribably beautiful, angelic creature transformed by my attire, disarming those handsome, aloof suitors and inspiring admiring envy as I waft along leafy paths illuminated by pools of golden sun…😊 Thanks for another super podcast. I like that blue shawl a lot. There’s a home here if you decide the colour doesn’t suit you 😉❤️

I was always drawn to the Nordic designs, but I always hesitated as I had learnt to understand that the patterns were often less descriptive…no holding of the hand in other words. I enjoy knitting when I feel I understand clearly the steps and techniques. I decided to attempt the Bregne sweater by Knitting for Olive. The pattern was clear and well written. I used a lovely pastel blue baby alpaca yarn. The lace detail combined with the feathery halo enhanced the vintage classic look of the sweater.
Thank you for candidly sharing your thoughts, observations and feelings. I imagine it must be challenging to be personal in front of a camera while remaining private…the word that comes to me is vulnerability 🤍
