Great video. Awesome 1911. The brass bead front sight is so classic. I plan on only changing the thumb safety & trigger. The rest of it is perfect and classic.
I have not seen that model before. I have the Colt traditional. Wow fireballs! How was the accuracy? On mine very tight group at 7 yards with some touching the bullseye.
@@enricomandragona163 I have been shooting 1911’s for over 40 years, I know all about Colt history. It’s just a brief video of a pistol I bought. Thanks for your opinion and thanks for watching.

@@enricomandragona163 do you know what the 80’s firing pin safety system is? That’s what I was talking about. Obviously you have a problem understanding English. It was know as the Series 80 firing pin safety system.
Thank you! Oh I will be keeping this beauty. And I will keep it in its original factory condition. It was a limited run so it’s kind of a collector’s piece. I’ll be taking it to the range again today for an accuracy test with different brands of ammunition. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
There’s two ways to look at this 1911, safe-Queen or EDC. Since you’ve already shot it, it’s no longer “NIB/100%” so you might as well swap the thumb safety if you want and just put the factory safety in the box. I bought a Kimber Royal Classic a few years ago and finally decided that I wanted to carry it instead of worrying about the possible investment value… To me, guns are tools for EDC, target shooting, or hunting! I have a number of really high end nice guns but they all go to the range! What’s the point of buying a gun that’s too precious to use? Great review, I hope that new Colt serves you well for many years to come! Merry Christmas!
Thank you and Merry Christmas! It’s funny you say that, because after I shot it again two days ago, I was like “Well it’s no longer mint, why shouldn’t I change things out?” I’m going to install an extended safety and a longer trigger. Thanks for watching!
For investment collectablity leave it as is but for practical real world use preference would install a standard pad thumb safety. I also like the arched main spring housing especially if paired with a short GI A1 trigger but can work with the flat style too. This would be a pefect feature set for a Commander.
Trying to negotiate right now for 1175 on one. Beautiful looking 1911. Ignore the haters. Idk why but people are weird about Colt stuff. Only thing I would do is swap out that front sight for a night sight and I might put an extended thumb safety on it. We will see once I get it in hand. Love the blued barrel, front strap checkering, roll marks, short trigger and commander ring hammer.
UPDATE: Finally got mine! I put a orange hi viz front night sight on it, an Ed brown extended thumb safety and the Colt VZ brown grips that come stock on the commander series. It’s a beauty.
@enricomandragona163 it was a reissue of an older Wiley Clapp model that came out a few years ago. It was really advertised, and never even showed up on the Colt website.
I like it overall but I'd have to change the thumb safety, trigger, & put a Wilson "V grip" mainspring housing on it & get rid of the gold dot sight insert.@@RogueSarge
I just got mine 2 days ago..ain't had the chance to shoot it yet SN about half of what yours is(not that matters) Would be nice if Colt included a 2nd Mag.. Seems to be a fine gun for the price
So is this one under the management of CZ cause if not it's just another series 80 plastic parts horrible quality control and file for bankruptcy JUNK COLT
It was produced under the CZ management , and it’s a Series 70 platform with no plastic parts. Mainspring housing is steel actually! From what I have read is that only 5000 of these were produced.
Great video. Awesome 1911. The brass bead front sight is so classic. I plan on only changing the thumb safety & trigger. The rest of it is perfect and classic.
Yeah that brass bead really stands out!
I say keep it as is. Thanks for the video.
I think I will keep it stock, since it was a limited production run. And you’re welcome! Thank you for watching!
I wouldn’t have a problem with that safety, but it is kinda bizarre they would use that as opposed to the more modern larger tear drop style safety.
I decided that I will be replacing that thumb safety.
Gorgeous. ❤love to have this model. Not even sure I would even shoot it though. Being a limited Edition. 😊
It does shoot nice though.
I have not seen that model before. I have the Colt traditional. Wow fireballs! How was the accuracy? On mine very tight group at 7 yards with some touching the bullseye.
Accuracy was outstanding! I will post another video showing the accuracy if you want!
@@enricomandragona163 I think the video speaks for itself. I gave plenty of details. I will probably do a follow up after I change out a few parts.

I want one! I mean what's not to love about fireballs from a hand cannon?
I really like it! And it shot great with absolutely no issues. The 1911 has always been my favorite platform.
Cool video 👍

Keep it as is…..nice gun
I like the checkered front strap, but overall, what's the point of this thing?
It’s an updated version of one of the old Wiley Clap models. Could make a good base for customizing. It does shoot great and is very accurate.

$1199.00 plus tax.

My 2012 Colt SAA is the best made Colt I own and I have five decades of them. My 2018 Gold Cup is just as good as my 1978.
