Hi, I did the same job earlier last year, I never done it before but I made it up as I went along!! Seeing this Vlog I can see that all I did was the same, so very pleased with myself as my caravan looks beaut now!
Glad it worked out for you mate. Its disheartening when you see it in such a mess but its great when its all sorted out again. :-) May you have many happy hours in it. :-)
Martyn Pope It was a 2 part polyurethane glue from ebay I think, mafde by apollo chemicals.www.apolloadhesives.com/Apollo-Adhesives-Product-Types-Polyurethanes.cfm Here is a symilar one I think. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Part-Caravan-Wallboard-Panel-Adhesive-PolyurethaneMix-/380247266734?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item588880d5ae
Fortunately my 1992 motorhome water damage was confined to the internal back corners. One side mainly below window height worse than the other because of poor maintenance by previous owners. I was able to, with the help of a spray painter, sand back in the damage area the plastic surface applied onto the plyboard during manufacture and bog it out with three layers between drying out, sand and prime before painting. Looks better than the undamaged panels. You did a great job.
Old video but thanks for doing it. I hope you have more on this. We want to redo some walls, but did not want to take it down to the studs so I'm glad I saw this!!
Austin you are an inspiration :-) You have great hands and the patience of a Saint well done Amigo it is taking shape. Sending Love from across the pond and have a FANTASTIC week ahead :-)
Hi, nice vid thanks, we have a 2004 Bailey Discovery 200 and had much the same problem but in the toilet floor, thankfully I caught it just in time I managed to find and seal the leak the seal around the toilet cassette service door had failed. After I removed said door and resealed all is now fine but I had inject the floor with Ronseal hardener and replace the floor covering. Regards Arnold Harrington
Hi Ya. Yes it as a poliurathane glue. Irts a 2 pack that you mix together. its very sticky but is flexible when hard. this is the one i used. www.bondrite.co.uk/caravan-repair-products/caravan-panel-repair-adhesive/p294853.html
ScudoCamper - Not Just Camping Hi Austin. Just got my first 1991 van and it has damp areas. Obviously you dried it all out first ( did you use anything specific for that ie a hair dryer or electric radiator?) but what thickness is your plywood sheet 3 or 5mm maybe? What about sealing the source of the damp in the first place?
HI, we have the same problem with water coming through the drilled holes where the windows are attached too. Some have split and need to be sealed again. What type of product would you use to bond this together? Also i need to replace the wall panels. It seems quite difficult to get hold of this from Bailey. When we do, what would you use to bond this panel back onto the polystyrene? Thanks Sarah
What thickness of ply would be best? I bought a `92 Swift rapide as a project but not sure whether to use 6mm or 9mm ply to re line the rear wall where there has been leakage. can you advise?
Hi. I would use the thinnest as the weight is important. The lamination of the ply to the framework is what gives it the strength. :-) Hope this helps?
Why not cast the complete outer shell in one mould (as a boat hull) then place it on the chassis with a non rotting floor, then build the inside last. Then you have a complete watertight floor and a complete watertight outer shell, simple to put windows and doors into without compromising the water tightness of the build.
A simple car port would help, with 7 day timers you could have a dehumidifier and fan heater to come on automatically when your not using it, surely just waxing the outside and using silicone on the rubbers should make a tremendous difference.
Typical British made leaky Caravan it is only now that they seem to be manufacturing them to a specification that MIGHT not have the same amount of water ingress, it does not matter which one you buy they all leak, it's common sense that just butting up panels with screws and silicone that the joint will break down, in your case Austin it is a prime example after twelve month back to the dealership with water ingress, cheers

Hi Sarah. The glue I used I have listed a link in the description. Hope this helps? :-)
Hiya, where is the insulation?
What board did you use please?
Think it was 3mm wall board from a caravan dealer. Was the same tyre as was fitted as standard in the Bailey
How do you transfer the shape of the window to the wall material for the cut?
What thickness of ply would be best?

I'd be thinking Well I've come this far i may as well replace the bad panels with new and also use pressure treated wood wherever i could access.
Jack
Done a great job on this bro how did it turn out in the end.
+Ken Allen looked ok in the end mate. Sold it on as we never used it anymore. Still nice and dry when it was sold so good job done. :-)
Hey Austin excellent job m8 well done looks great. Gordon
do you offer services around London????
Sorry no, to far for me I'm afraid. :)

that would work well mate. some manufacturers do that over here but not many. :-)
Getting there mate, good job :)
Cheers....Les.
You didn't take out the damaged wood?
What about mold behind it?
I'm confused by this too! Did the OP just patch over rotten wood?
A simple car port would help, with 7 day timers you could have a dehumidifier and fan heater to come on automatically when your not using it, surely just waxing the outside and using silicone on the rubbers should make a tremendous difference.
What Glue did you use to apply the board, I have Sikaflex 221 will this do? also was the glue enough to hold it?
Hi. Yes its all solid now. used the 2 part stuff and gripfill on the areas that the glue was not in contact with the polystyrene as it melts it.

Thanks Fred. your dead right mate. They are now using proper panels that doen't rot any more, bit late in our van. lol :-)
Ma prima lo toglieremo il marcio??? E come se ti puzza l'ascella e invece di lavarla ci metti il profumo
Only thing your rooms Guna be about 2 or 3mm smaller lololol
How to repair a wood wall
Well I suppose hiring it out would have brought in money and any problems would have been spotted early.
