Identical power cord to my 1970s metal base model 707 convertible. I suspect it's not factory. Mine is a new old stock replacement from an old vacuum shop. The little "ears" that stick out are to prevent the plug from pulling loose when pulled sideways, such as in the situation where someone has vacuumed their way into another room and ran out of cord. Absolute lifesaver honestly, wish I saw it on more US models nowadays.
Glad to see it arrived ok! Looks nice! Yes the brush roll is original. in 1976, Hoover ceased the black and switched to grey. I am afraid that the cord has been replaced. That almost triangle looking plug means that the cord is a generic Hoover cord that was produced for all Hoover Convertible's and Dial-A-Matic cleaners. That same plug was also used for many fit all Kirby cords, and Electrolux cords. Otherwise it looks very nice! I would dare to say any rust is from the period of time it was stored, like a damp basement, or a unsealed garage. Was probably AunTie, or Grannies Hoover that was loved and cherished, then stored after the demise of said owner, until it was sold!=)
I had a blue version U.K. version I believe was called a convertible. To this day I’ve had dozens of vacuums and nothing comes close to what that hoover could do. The brush roll broke on it and at the time , before internet I could get a new one so I extremely reluctantly had a new one and I’ve probably had 20 since and the only one that came as good as this one was an upright miele
Hey roger I have that exact hoover dial a matic that is a1978 model make sure you change both belts at same time that will clean your plush carpet with no problem enjoy 😉 Lou from USA 🇺🇸
actually the first of the U6003 in Poppy, were introduced in 1974. His is from around 1976, is has the faux marble label. The older ones had a different label. The U6003 was ran until late 1978, and I have several advertisements that were still offering the U6003 in 1979.
BTW I wonder, was there some kind of cover for the access port hole at the back? Seems odd without a cover ...just checked ebay and loads of brochures and original ads on offer. So many colors!
No, there was never a cover for the hose socket. The hole blocks internally when you turn the dial to the carpet setting and opens when the dial is turned to the tool setting diverting the suction to the hose. Yes, in the USA you were spoilt for colours. 🙂
@@ibaisaic yes that's what I was wondering. So the dirt hose by the motor not right through on it's was to the bag. The colors on the vacuum are sunset orange and taupe. Mine is a U6003. I also have a 84 Kirby heritage 2 that my nanna gave to me. I also have 14-15 other different vacuums.
My Dear Roger your Dial A Matic does not have an original brush roll its a Senior brush roll with a dip in the middle for a drive belt. Original Dial A Matics and UK old convertibles had smooth Brush Rolls painted black without the drive belt dip, as the brush roll is driven from the side. One good thing replacement Senior brush strips will fit

This machine is gorgeous. The color, design -- all of it. I think if they sold this model today with HEPA filters it'd be a hit with the retro crowd.

It reminds me like a concept one in a way before it’s time
Beautiful Dial a matic. I want to find the U6039 one in a beautiful light blue and white.
There has been one on eBay for a month or two.
Yes, that cable is the correct cable for that machine. Absolutely gorgeous Roger. Making me jealous not making a go at getting it myself.
This and the Panasonic Jet-Flo were two of the leading variable suction machines in the U.s. Similar to the U.K. Electrolux 500 series.
Hoover sold the clean air upright design to Panasonic.
glad to see you are well! have a great holiday!
love the new video Roger!!
Exceptionally stunning beautiful machine. Love it so much. Bless you for this video. So appreciated. 🎄🎄🎄🎄

Asda, but I bought it last year so I don’t think they’ll do that design anymore.
@@ibaisaic thanks hope your keeping safe and hope you have a lovey Christmas and I think we will all be glad to see the end of 2020
Congratulations on your vintage import but that cord does look like a replacement

The great Retro Colour 😎
The world’s first clean air upright
Hey Roger I have the same vacuum. I love it! Do you know if it's a bypass suction motor?
It’s a clean fan design if that’s what you mean.

Yes, the dirt goes through the short hose and straight into the bag.
@@ibaisaic thank you! From one vacuum collector to another. I love watching your videos!

At least for me...
Those never sounded super pleasing to the ear... They are tanks and they do clean pretty well though.
Wow... Thats one heck of a tree... Did you do it by yourself? Must've taken you more than an hour guaranteed...
PS Bona package
