In either the 1934 or 1935 Official short wave radio manual there is an AC version called the 53 twinplex. Uses a type 53 twin triode.
I have that book made quite a few regens from it.
Beautiful build! I'm gathering parts to build a 'Signal Grabber". Doerle's Forever! 73, bill.

The potentiometer just need cleaning. Use tuner cleaner. Even wire wound controls need cleaning 73
