- «I would take up a bandura» - Ukrainian folk song and romance.
The author of the words: Petrenko Mykhailo (partly).
Performed: Kuban Cossack Choir
Lyrics(English):
I would take up a bandura
And play that which I know
Because of that bandura
A bandurist I've become
On account of those eyes
When I could have had them
For those there brown eyes
My soul I'd have given up
Oh Dear Mary's heart
Now take pity on me
Here do take my heart
And do, give yours to me
I would take up a bandura
And play that which I know
Because of that bandura
A bandurist I've become
Lyrics(Ukrainian):
Коли б я iх мав
За тi карi очi
Душу б я вiддав
Пожалiй мене

Is this sung in ucranian or russian? I’m asking because it’s a russian choir.
It's Ukrainian 👌
Yes, Kuban Cossack Choir, absolutely fantastic. Remember before 1991, Ukrainian culture was also Russian culture, just as Russian culture was also Ukrainian culture, only the politicians have destroyed the cohesion. Culture is above politics.
This is a very old Ukrainian folksong.
@@alexejII This is not true, Ukraine existed many years before the appearance of Moscow. Ukraine had its own culture, which the Russian Empire tried to destroy many times over the years. Therefore, no, there was never anything together, they tried to take away ours and impose their own. They tried to destroy everything Ukrainian. They tried to destroy us through 3 famines. And now they are trying to find us through war. These are the reasons why Ukrainians hate them and do not want to be part of the "Russian World". Not only politicians are to blame for this, if they were a "fraternal" nation, they would not have politicians who kill us. Their politicians are a part of this nation, and this part shows the whole world who they really are.
Can anyone tell me when this song was composed? I'm an oktavist and in love with ukrainian culture, and I decided to play it in a concert. I need as many information as I can get about it to tell my public!
if you believe Kobzar Lytvyn, the song was distorted, and he became a bandurist because of a girl who was kidnapped by the Tatars
@@Yuuka99 I did my research back then, and I found out about it. The guy would then go try rescuing his girl from the tartars and he returned wounded and blind (possibly without her). Nice song.
i know this Russian basso profundo. Blessings 2 him and 2 all. YEAH!!!!!
Dmitry Seleznev. Very good singer
