Great review! It's my favorite monofin, but ohhhh the blisters! Get them every time if I forget socks. But the propulsion and the wonderful flop is so worth it!
Got the black one. In large. I have size tenish feet, and with neoprene socks, the large is great. Easy on and off. Despite the lack of ability to adjust, it sits on my feet very well.
Some other mermaids in my community let me try the Mahina, and boi was it hard to start a kick. I’m used to the dolphin kick, but it took me a few tries to get it to work. After I got a kick started, I was practically flying out of the water (I was holding onto the edge.)
I know this is an older video, but I was wondering if this monofin compares to the Finis Shooter regarding speed? I know stiffer is better for speed/propulsion, but this one seems much more flexible than the Shooter. I'm also curious about how easy it is to spin in because of how it flares out, since you mentioned in your Shooter review that the Shooter was pretty good at that because it was smaller in that sense. I'm gonna watch your Finis Rapid review next, but the Mahina and Shooter are my top two right now.
Great questions, the shooter is much faster and more agile, but much less esthetically pleasing. The mahina is more graceful, but still has decent power and a beautiful shape. If you are looking for a monofin to use on its own or in a plain fabric tail skin pick a mahina, if you are looking for a monofin for inside a vinyl casing or silicone tail pick the shooter.
You mentioned trimming the sides to fit a mermaid tail... but didn't mention which tail? I'm wondering because I'm very tempted to get this one for a FinFolk tail - as I've seen one other mermaid trim the tips for a finfolk and proclaimed it helped propulsion. Plus I love the idea of more easily shimmying out of the monofin, which I don't think is as easy in the Shooter they recommend for their tails?
Jennifer Barrick I trimmed mine to fit my esthetic for tails I make. I have seen people put it in a finfolk uncut too. It is better and more comfortable to buy a shooter one size up if you are going to be putting it in a tail, you can always wear socks
I have the black mahina. I just got a custom fabric that zippers up and I think it caused air bubbles and won't let me dive down. Does that make sense?
I love my fin fun AMP to death but the only pool I have in my area is VERY abrasive and I have tears from my first swim. Once I improve with the fin fun I'll be invest in a mahina
That’s a great plan! Pool floors can be so hard on fins and tails. I have a “training tail skin”/trash skin that I use to protect my fins while I train
The blue one is soooo stiff and hard. It made me uncomfortable.i also own. Black mahina , which is my favorite. Its softer and more comfortable to my feet. I sold my blue one and will buy Finis Luna.
Chiks Silog my guess would be not, unless you have narrow feet. I have a large monofin, I wear us womens’ 10 and have a very high instep, so the fin is a bit of a squeeze
I'm planning to buy this soon! However, I'm confused on which size to get. I am usually a size 8- 8.5 but can fit into a 7.5. Should get the small or medium?
I really want to buy a monofin. I live in Europe and the shipping will cost a lot. So I really want to make sure I get the “right” one. Would you recommend the finis Luna or Mahina? Or is there a better alternative for beginners? I want something fun and comfortable :)
I have a video on how to swim like a mermaid. You should already be a confident swimmer before trying a monofin. Start in the shallow end and practice the dolphin kick with a kick board first. Be safe
Hi can you help me I'm Filipino merman aspirant I want mahina merfin but I feet large size mahina it's not fit on my foot did mahina have a larger foot size monofins
Ryan Rivera The largest mahina fits womans show sizez AUS 9-11/ US 9.5-12.5 /EURO 42-44 while that is fairly large, the foot pockets can be too narrow for men’s feet in that size range
I ordered mine yesterday! I can’t wait!
it's my absolute favorite! I hope you enjoy!
Mahina is one of my favorite monofins that i have
I've been thinking of getting one of these monofins, they look so beautiful! 💖
Great review! It's my favorite monofin, but ohhhh the blisters! Get them every time if I forget socks. But the propulsion and the wonderful flop is so worth it!
I think mine fits snug enough where I don't get blisters, but wearing socks helps.
@@TheMermaidSewist what size shoe do you wear?
9.5-10 depending on the fit

@@TheMermaidSewist I do plan to use a fabric tail. Thank you so much for your help! The Mahina it is.
There is little difference between the new fins, since they changed their production. The only difference is color

I love your videos ♡

Did mahina feets on foot size 12 or 11. 1/2

Bethanyy Theresa I would say go with a medium, you can always wear water socks if it is a bit roomy.
The size chart on mahina’s sight may also have the dimensions of each foot pocket

I would say the Luna is not a beginner fin. I recommend the mahina or the mermaid linden
