    I drive this car daily, drove it across the country 4 times in 2.5 days only stopping for gas from vancouver to montreal and you get there without being fatigued. in 10 years did not have to fix anything except brake pads, one battery and oil. Spend the extra and drive something you will enjoy for many years.

    I drive a 2010 Cadillac DTS. Love the car. Just returned from a road trip to Seattle to East Texas. The car just purred. Believe it or not, I ran over a metal lawn chair in the middle lane of a freeway just outside of Ft. Worth. The collision broke all the plastic in the driver's side quarter panel., but the car kept going. Drove it all the way back without repairs.
    I love this car. I had OEM radio replaced with a CarPlay head to get navigation.

    My neighbor is selling his 2008 DTS, and it only has 34,000 original miles. It’s MINT. He’s asking $10,000 cash. I’m very tempted.

    I just bought a 2006 DTS with a rag top for 800 bucks. It has 258000 miles but it has been well taken care of and runs great. Just needs struts. I'm excited even though this car has been driven to the moon and back.

    I am seriously wanting to buy a 2007 DTS Luxury 1. Test drove one yesterday. Siver like one in video, and very, very clean. I could not believe what happened when I went to merge into interstate from on ramp... Kicking down about 3/4 throttle at 50 or so, the pull, sound, and...just fast. It felt like it would have just kept accelerating with more and more torque feel had I stayed in it. Amazing for a large car. And, as you mentioned, handling in curvy situations was very surprising for a large car. Stayed flat, dug in, very responsive steering. I love this car, and very much want it. The overheating issues I have seen all over the net are scaring me a bit though. This one has 147,000 miles. I would like to think if these issues would want to happen on this particular car, they would have happened by now and been remedied. I dunno. Anyway, great video.

    You like me have a special thing for the Cadillac. I own a '98 Eldo ETC with 231,000m that can Gitty Up with any new beast ride made today! I bought for the wife an '06 DTS that took us out west recently to Seattle from Minnesota here, and it's powerful Northstar cruised 'effortlessly' through the Rocky Mountains like a soaring eagle! Do they have problems (heck ya) just like any other vehicle made, BUT, if properly maintained these beasts will perform like no other! Thanks for your insightful knowledge young man of informing 'prospective' Cadillac owners that they won't be sorry purchasing one of these fine GM machines to tour in!

    • @jimmycruiserr
      @jimmycruiserr  7 лет назад

      Awesome!!! And thank you! I love these things, I really want to get an Eldorado for myself someday as well! But you are exactly right, I know this 06 DTS that I got to drive had almost 20,000 miles a year put on it for 3-4 years of hard everyday commuting, and now its having its issues... but taken care of these things will go forever! Can't wait to be a Caddie owner someday! Thanks for watching, and good luck with yours

      @jimmycruiserr  8 лет назад

      +konz avelli Np! Actually since this review, we found out that the overheating is in fact caused by head gasket failure, which was apparently a very common problem for Northstar V8s. We are trying to do it ourselves, its a big job though. Videos will be out soon about it!!

    • @jimmycruiserr
      @jimmycruiserr  8 лет назад +1

      Bigluxurycar 69 Hey!! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! We used what I believe is called a "block tester". I will have a video out this week that will be the first part of the head gasket series, and we will show it then, but basically what it is is we warmed up the car to operating temp, opened the coolant purge tank (very carefully lol) and held this thing over the tank, and basically what it does is it has a chemical inside that changes color if there is any exhaust/engine gasses in the coolant, which it did almost immediately. It's a pretty good indicator. We also noticed that the coolant was bubbling an unusual amount when we first tried to open the coolant purge tank. Between those two things, it was pretty clear that we would be doing gaskets!! Stay tuned, the whole thing will be going up as a series on the channel!

      Channel C.G.E. No problem man. I have a 2000 seville STS myself and I love it. I did have a pontiac bonneville few years ago that had a similar problem. except it was the 3800 and an overhead valve engine. both my intake and head gaskets went on me. come to find out the coolant was very acidic and destroyed my gaskets. after seeing that happen, im very religious flushing out my cooling system on my seville. I remember other people saying the same thing on other gm cars. so that may have been your problem. it seems that dexcool coolant can be dangerous! i have a friend that had to rebuilt his chevy silverado with the duramax engine and guess what, his head gaskets went and also the head bolts were all loose.

    • @jimmycruiserr
      @jimmycruiserr  8 лет назад +1

      Interesting!!!! I almost want to say I've heard that about dexcool. This had it in it for a long time, but when we started having the overheating issue we had our shop do a flush and I notice they put universal green in it. Maybe they already knew this lol. By then, it would have been too late since it was already getting hot. Thanks again, and good luck with your Seville!! I always liked them!

    Great video. I have the same overheating problem with my 2008 Cadillac DTS. The engine temperature rises, but then decrease before it hits the red. Changing the engine air filter helped, however, the issue still occurs here and there. Let us know if you find the cause of this issue.

    • @jimmycruiserr
      @jimmycruiserr  8 лет назад

      +Dr. West Thanks! Yep, it definitely sounds like the same problem. I'll be coming out with an update video soon, but basically what we did since this video was a coolant flush and new fan relays... That still didn't solve the problem, although it seems to be a little better. We will have to throw a new filter in there to, I never thought of that. I think most likely next thing to go for is a new water pump, and still keep an eye on the cooling fans. It's good to know someone else has the same issue! Thanks for the comment, and hopefully we will both get this solved soon!

    • @TeeroyHammermill
      @TeeroyHammermill 8 лет назад +2

      Don't keep letting it overheat or it will ruin the engine. Stop guessing and throwing parts at it wasting money trying to remedy the overheat problem. Take it to an ASE certified technician for proper diagnosis. It could be just a bad radiator cap not holding enough pressure.

    • @jimmycruiserr

      My father had overheating issues on his pontiac like 20 years ago. It came out that the thermostat wasn't working or better said sent false information to the cooling system therefore it didn't cool the engine down enough or too late. After changing this little device everything worked fine. Sadly the frequent overheating destroyed the head gaskets. Perhaps it's the same thing that causes the problem on your car. I have a cadillac seville sts now. It's a 2001 with 120'000 miles. Didn't have any problems so far. I thinking of trading it in for a cadillac dts 2011. Do you guys think its a good idea?

    • @jimmycruiserr
      @jimmycruiserr  8 лет назад +3

      makimime Hey!! That doesn't surprise me, I've heard now from many places online that the Northstars are pretty sensitive to overheating. Its possible that the original problem was with the thermostat or something but by the time we fixed it it was too late. Definitely going to be careful from here on in! I personally would highly recommend the DTS despite, it's an absolutely beautiful and surprisingly fun car to drive. Just, as you already know, you need to be careful lol! Thanks for watching by the way, and good luck!!!

    Good review, no nonsense. The Northstar V8 is notorious for beinga piece of overheating crap and the head gaskets are to blame 98% of the time. You will start to see coolant in the oil. This is what stopped me from buying a Cadillac years ago, glad I never did. Sad to say, but foreign cars (usually Japanese) are better quality.
    I know in past couple years Cadillac has tried to revamp its image, but I think they focused more on design than mechanical aspect and issues are starting to creep up in the newer models several years after their debut. Cadillac is crap. Put it this way, Elvis loved Cadillacs, but I bet if the king was alive today he would be driving something else.

    Way to much of your mug on cam. Show the car. The engine bay. The under carriage. NORTHSTAR ENGINES Start around 80K leaking on the heads or crossovers/Intake. Reason being is the sealant that GM uses and the Dexcool. It sucks because they are great ENGINES. You know your crap..Keep it up. More of the car though. And suspension...You got air...Get into it. Best.
