Its probably not a coincidence that the break in happened when she was not around. The burglar was probably watching the house. If it was a stalker, I feel its unlikely they would miss her unless they were very stupid.
That being said, understandable that she would feel paranoid anyways, and feel a desire for more safety. Even if it was a burglar and she knows that, burglars can still be very dangerous. Also, if a burglar can break into her house that easily, other people with worse intentions could too.
She said her stuff was messed and some of her bug was killed. Does burglar really have time to do that? Burglar normally just want to get a lot of stuff as possible and leave less evidence as possible, not breaking stuff and making noise.

If the perpetrator rummaged through Nene's room without stealing anything and killed some of her beetle collections then this was a deliberate attack. If any money or objects are stolen then it is a burglary. The dead beetle could be because the thief was in a hurry and bumped into the beetle's box and stepped on it. But if any of Nene's digital data was lost then it was the stalker.

Thats the worst feeling ever. I know this because the same thing happened to me once. I get home from college and my whole house is a mess. They stole my laptop, my sun glasses and some few other things...But stuff was broken for no reason. Somehow they didnt steal anything of importance like my passport for whatever reason. Thank god i had insurance so all the damage and the stuff they stole, i got the money back.
Since then i put an house alarm system. We have a saying in portugal : Casa roubada, trancas á porta. Which means that you only take measures when sh*t happens. If you buy a house, put an alarm system on it. If anything, just to scare the bastards away.
