Record labels will make deluxe albums (essentially Japan gets an extra song that you can’t find anywhere else in the world) simply to break into it. Artists like Halsey, Ariana, Vampire Weekend, Kesha, Gaga, Santana, Mariah Carey, etc. used this tactic, and it’s something that flys under the radar. I’m not trying to clown either side; it’s only something to think about.

It's not ridiculous, for me at least, for them to release just a single and EPs for the past 4 years, I believe there's power with the less is more approach they're taking. I saw an insta live that Bekuh Boom (the songwriter) did and she talked about her struggles in the industry as a songwriter and an artist. I feel like you can really hear her story through the song. And yes the song translates really well for BP as idols. I cried the first time I heard the song. It’s beautifully written and delivered.

I think it’s one where Blackpink finally found the sound they want. And YG, continue to let Blackpink be involved in the writing process of their songs. You see how much better they are?
