I actually like the look of the fighter tank. I know they mixed the 2 types of fighter tanks but the minifigures aren't in the official star wars universe either. And when the front door thing is up it looks good. It also has the best mace windu we'll ever have for only 40 dollars when some of us don't have unlimited money for Lego. Also we'll never get those purple clones again. Lego went out and did something thing different. They could've just made another normal original trilogy set that we've seen a million times and still everyones complaining.
Exactly. And even now it’s actually pretty accurate to the original render model of the fighter tank. It’s supposed to be. I can see only one real resemblance to the battlefront advanced version and it’s that the hover panels are flat and don’t move like the original. So even then it’s not much a comparison. And it is different and as far as I see it, it doesn’t deserve nearly as much flak as it’s getting.
For anyone who doesn't army build, getting a mace windu and a clone commander is way more appealing than just getting 3-4 of the same figures. I don't necessarily agree that every clone set has to be an army builder when army building is a niche part of the lego star wars community.. I don't think this set was put out there to be an "army builder". I greatly prefer the figure selection here than the 501st just because like most people i buy one of the set and am content.
@@Tren2183 up to you if you prefer mandalorians or clones. I have the starfighter, and it does not dissapoint, the Gar Saxon is an amazing figure, and so is the bo katan. If you prefer mando's over clones then pick that up. But there is also the price gap of about 20.
I don't know why the Lego Star Wars team doesn't just reskin the 501st battle pack every year, with a different clone legion, that would sell like crazy.
I wouldn't do it every year though, people are dying for clones so do one every 2 years, ex: you would release the 501st set in Summer 2020, then retire it Winter 2021 then release a 212th set in Summer 2022, so on and so forth. That would allow it to breath for a few months until a new one is released, give the sets more than a year long life-span, and also people wouldn't get as tired of it the third year in a row.
Yeah LEGO just kinda labeled it as a Commander for whatever reason, but you're totally right, and I'm not sure that they've been identified as commanders in whatever other content or toys theyve been in, but I could be wrong. Just seems odd for the commanders to wear airborne armor, so it doesn't feel right to me, despite what LEGO labeled them.

I bet people in 4 or 5 months will be selling it for 70 and you'll be wishing you'd picked it up. So everyone stop complaining about this set and appreciate it.
I actually think the Republic Fighter Tank is more like the 2020 AAT 1 named character (Mace Windu, Ahsoka) 2 characters that you can army build (187th troopers, battle droids) 1 exclusive character (187th commander, Ahsoka Clone) 1 inaccurate build (the set)
I still imagine the Fighter Tank will drop $5-10 at some point. The 501st has been $24 on Amazon and Walmart for a long time now. You can take the Mace Windu figure and switch out the heads and hands with some other figures to make unique Jedi. Jedi Master Harry Potter? 😂
The more I look at the fighter tank the more I like it. I didn't have enough money to buy the original back in the day, and I wasn't really buying Legos when the aayla Secura one came out, but I'm definitely going to pick this one up. Reminds me of the old days of playing clone wars on GameCube
I like the tank build way more than the 501st at-rt, since it is more generic. I rather have a vehicle not associated to an especific legion. Another thing, Instead of the mace fig Lego should have added another regular purple clone don’t you think? As cool as it may be, a jedi fig in an army building set is not good business.
I agree with that, the 501st battle pack isn't the most accurate, and you have to make blue legion stuff with it, but the fightertank can go with anything.
Mace fig is great here In one set you get a generic vehicle, a cool jedi with his cool differents troopers, and a few droids extra It's like the 2020 vehicle tank with ahsoka and yeah the 2021 he mentionned Great cheap way to have lots of good characters in one go and for just 32euro in promo, keep in mind the number of people that can buy 5 of the armies building stuff is rare Most will get 1 or 2 and thats it, that way giving the jedi of himself you leave safe somewhere and dont use until the other is broken/damaged
My guy, the set isn't an army builder. Having clones in a set does not make it a battlepack. Lego can make a set how they please and it honestly made it easier for fans who have no idea who or where the 187th was and what they did. They were under the command of Mace Windu, so don't you think they should have him with them?
Tbh, I like the Republic tank as a set better. But the 501st is a better value imo. Plus 501st troopers are cooler than the purple clones, even though I think the print is better on the purple ones
Imagine Lego making these battle packs in such a way that when you get like 6 of them you can buy a small upgrade pack for like 30-40$ and then use the pieces from the upgrade pack and the pieces from the builds that come with the battle pack to build something bigger like an AT-TE
Now that we have an ACTUAL 501st battle pack AND we're getting a 332nd battle pack, we might actually see these clones in a battle pack in the future, which i would love, because this is one of my favorite clone legions.
One slight difference between fighter tank and 501st is that if you want to include vehicles, 501st requires 2 troopers to make vehicles appear in use, wheres fighter tank does not.
Another set that I think can compare with the fighter tank is the Ahsoka’s AAT set. It might not have the same amount of clones but it is a similar concept for the same price.
Great custom idea! Take an at at (maybe the ucs one if you have multiple) and turn it into a 501st at at, then fill it with 501st figures, Anakin, Ahsoka, and maybe Obi-Wan.
Having at least 1-2 republic fighter tanks, 1-2 501st battlepacks, n the new at-te are definitely the essentials for rn at least, need more clones legions in this newer style
I mean to be fair, like others have said, the Clone commander could be doubled as an air trooper. Though I do kind of like the idea of indicating which one you think of as a commander by swapping one of the white arms with a similar dark purple to show they’re a special figure maybe.
I would love a remake of the original clone battle pack with the new phase 2 clones. It would come with a shock trooper, star corps and 2 generic clones.
LEGO creates it’s own canon. The same with it’s vehicles in the City sets...LEGO in the past designed vehicles with a little bit of humor in mind, that’s changing with some of the new City sets such as the hospital, the ambulance looks more realistic than previous ones. I know that’s a stretch in the imagination for many of us. The new Jurassic Park fence set suvs are the type I want in future City sets!
I agree, the fighter tank is more like the marauder, and i like both sets a lot. In that they are vehicles belonging to an army, and you actually get troops from that army. I hope they continue making this kind of set each year. And that lego doesnt missinterpret some of the negative feedback on the fighter tank as, us not liking this concept
Hate to be that guy, but ain't it funny how the only time a clone trooper has been reused in two different sets in the past 3 years (2020 - 2022) was the clone commander from the UCS Gunship?
The new tank is like a hybrid of the AAT and Armored Maurader, and it seems like this tank slot is going to be a staple of LEGO Star Wars for years to come…
I love clone figs, everyone does. But oh my gosh if they made a 30-40 dollar DROID battle pack. I would buy them in masses. Especially if they come with droidekas or commando droids
I have three of the 501st battle packs; one built normally, and the other two were made into alternate builds I found on RUclips. I plan on getting two of the tanks, and I might convert one of the tanks into an alternate build, but the main reason I'm getting two tanks is so that I can take one of the Mace Windu heads and put it on the body of my Speed Champions Mercedes W12 driver; he'll be the Sir Lewis Hamilton figure that that set should've had in the first place.
With only 2 basic clone troopers the Republic fighter tank might aswell be a droid army builder pack. You get the same number of B1 droids as mk2 clones.
i think lego is testing us with that republic tank set i think they wanna know if they get more sales if they focus more on minifigs .i hope they see that we lover some good minifigs! im gonna buy this set 3 times
If I find them on sale I'll try to get 3-5 republic fighter tank sets. I'm fine with getting many airborne troopers. Since the legion isn't canon, I'll just consider them regular troopers.
I was so hyped for the 501st battle pack and I still haven’t bought one, I mainly have just been trying to buy all mando sets and sets with mandos in them lol
I don’t think it should be compared to the 501st Battle Pack, but the AAT with Ashoka and her clone. That set was the test for this set, with 2 more clones, a different Jedi, and a republic tank. Just my opinion
I was thinking “damn.. I *should* buy a third fighter tank set” And then you said “buy 3-5” That’s about as close to a sith as any, so I guess I should. I’ll also buy my 10th 501st set while I’m at it 😂
Currently on BrickLink, there is a Russian seller selling 1000 “perfectly new” phase 2 Captain Rex’s for 1.60 (AU each). Do you think that this is a scam?
If the airborne trooper is a pilot, that would make his rank captain. Technically he would be the commander of these 3 clones since he is the highest rank.
Ive bought 5 501st battle packs in total and I used two of them to make a republic fighter tank which in my opinion looks a lot better than the 187th version
I think im not the only one who wants to have so much money that they can have multiple of a same set/ battlepacks , or at least one of each lego set released in a year, that would be something very cool and awesome
I’m actually pretty sure they are canon. I am almost 100% sure that in the clone wars show, there’s this one arc on ryloth where mace windu and his clones are meeting up with some of the twileks and I’m not sure if they were 187th but they were purple and with mace windu, so…
ill agree that the price per piece Does Not Matter, like have you seen creation sets? people who care, theres a rainbow set with a bunch of random brick mainly for kids to build a bunch of poly bag like items, 900pc for $40, Star wars blushes at those numbers so no it totally STILL DOES NOT matter but i dont care about piece count personally when the set gets pricy cause also prolly personally since im a adult now i mainly just build and put them on the shelf, so i want more pieces for more steps and more time building with lego but ik some people prolly think vise versa, but price per piece is seen to me is a time thing, i want to spend longer building FUN lego sets obviously not something tedious. great video as always MandR
On Stormtroopers: I missed out on the 2019 Imperial Dropship because I made the decision too late to start collecting LEGO Star Wars when I first got the Inferno Squad Battle Pack just after it retired. It's impossible to find a Dropship new here for much cheaper than just getting an Armored Marauder at this point. I'd much rather have the Dropship because it's so much more compact, but I kinda like that Artillery Trooper. Hmm. As for Clone Troopers, it's gotta be the 187th Legion for me, hands down.
I really like your videos keep up the good work I think lego should make more new clone wars vehicles I think the tank looks a little wierd but I would mostly buy it because of mini figs
I think that both price per piece and price per gram are almost entirely irrelevant. Depending on what purpose one has when buying a set, army building, parting out, etc., the perceived value will differ. So maybe price per piece is relevant to someone who sells individual parts as a useful tool, but overall a set should be measure (I think) by factors relevant to what one is trying to get out of the set.
What's the point of this video? The republic fighter tank was never meant to be an army builder so of course it gets smoked. You might as well compare dagobah training to it for the same thing it's no contest.
The way I see it simply the clone fighter tank is the best chance to get a good arm printed mace windu and some 187 clones for a one time deal and the 501st battle pack is more suitable for army building, I’m definitely holding off until the may the 4th promo happens so I have an excuse to get it this year plus can’t be as bad as the ucs gunship
Bro that's what I've been saying from the start with these tank type of sets. The republic fighter tank is exactly like the marauder where you only need to buy 2-3. It's not like the 501st battle pack where you can buy however many you want. That named character really handicaps what you're able to do with the set, 10 Greef Karga/Mace Windu mini figures is not only useless but will effect the aftermarket value since there'll be tones of them around.
I wish they would put a cloth pauldron in the "commander" that way it would be very easy to make one of the multiple a commander and leave the others as airborn troopers
I feel like the aat and republic fighter tank because both are builds mandr hates both have good jedi minifigures and both have a desirable clone and 2 droids
Considering how many people boughts dozens to hundreds of 501st battle packs for 24-30 dollars each, it might not be that out of the ordinary to see a lot of people doing the same here, even though it's not nearly as good for army building as the 501st battle pack.
You know 3-5 if the fighter tank is probably my max anyways and wait till it’s eventually $32. Enough to have a squad, and probably grab a custom waistcape and armor for my one commander.
If I get multiple of these windu sets, I think parts of his jedi tunic and armor can be used for custom minifigs but I dunno where it oculd be useful. Maybe to improve a clone wars Obi Wan and to give diversity to your stormtroopers lol. That's a lot of purple lightsabers tho.
The 501st battle packs alt builds are really cool I have a custom tx130 from a yt I saw the same guy has made a gunship out of 4 packs and an atte out of 4 packs so I think the alt builds from the tank could be really good
To be fair, that other clone wars battlpack that you compared it to the 501st one had only 70-80 pieces, this one has 285, assuming you pay 1$ for every 10 pieces i believe it to be a pretty great deal. But yes, the battle tank is pretty overpriced, although maybe you can justify it by saying that the mace windu minifig is kinda unique? idk

Currently on BrickLink, there is a Russian seller selling 1000 “perfectly new” phase 2 Captain Rex’s for 1.60 (AU each). Do you think that this is a scam?
maybe
It’s probably a scam because, 1000 Captain Rex’s for like 1.50 each, not real.
If the airborne trooper is a pilot, that would make his rank captain. Technically he would be the commander of these 3 clones since he is the highest rank.
I think that the 501st battle pack is better for army building but the fighter tank has better minfigs
Ive bought 5 501st battle packs in total and I used two of them to make a republic fighter tank which in my opinion looks a lot better than the 187th version
You could use the extra pieces from the fighter tank to make a gun ship or something.
My top 2 lego sets I would like is the Imperial Fighter Tank and The LAAT couracaunt guard version
I think im not the only one who wants to have so much money that they can have multiple of a same set/ battlepacks , or at least one of each lego set released in a year, that would be something very cool and awesome
The 187th Legion look insanely awesome. Thats why i will prob buy from ebay like 16 of them
I prefer a clone trooper helmet to the commanders helmet
I’m actually pretty sure they are canon. I am almost 100% sure that in the clone wars show, there’s this one arc on ryloth where mace windu and his clones are meeting up with some of the twileks and I’m not sure if they were 187th but they were purple and with mace windu, so…
The 187th are in legends contuity
ill agree that the price per piece Does Not Matter, like have you seen creation sets? people who care, theres a rainbow set with a bunch of random brick mainly for kids to build a bunch of poly bag like items, 900pc for $40, Star wars blushes at those numbers so no it totally STILL DOES NOT matter but i dont care about piece count personally when the set gets pricy cause also prolly personally since im a adult now i mainly just build and put them on the shelf, so i want more pieces for more steps and more time building with lego but ik some people prolly think vise versa, but price per piece is seen to me is a time thing, i want to spend longer building FUN lego sets obviously not something tedious. great video as always MandR
Nice job with the sponsors. Hope you really grow in popularity
Some standard phase 2 troopers would be nice
LUCKY ASS BOY CANT FIND ANY 501ST BATTLEPACKS HERE IN EUROPE
I think that both price per piece and price per gram are almost entirely irrelevant. Depending on what purpose one has when buying a set, army building, parting out, etc., the perceived value will differ. So maybe price per piece is relevant to someone who sells individual parts as a useful tool, but overall a set should be measure (I think) by factors relevant to what one is trying to get out of the set.
A step down from the 501st bp
but a step up from the droid hover tank
Ooooo I want the republic fighter tank
What's the point of this video? The republic fighter tank was never meant to be an army builder so of course it gets smoked. You might as well compare dagobah training to it for the same thing it's no contest.
He had too much lean...
Quite right. And people wonder why Lego won't listen to the community.
The way I see it simply the clone fighter tank is the best chance to get a good arm printed mace windu and some 187 clones for a one time deal and the 501st battle pack is more suitable for army building, I’m definitely holding off until the may the 4th promo happens so I have an excuse to get it this year plus can’t be as bad as the ucs gunship
if you compare the RFT set against the AAT, we actually get a better value of that set. as AAT only gets 1 332nd clone,
Bro that's what I've been saying from the start with these tank type of sets.
I wish they would put a cloth pauldron in the "commander"
that way it would be very easy to make one of the multiple a commander and leave the others as airborn troopers
Nice video!
TBH that sponsor transition was amazing lol
Is it weird that i have both of these
I hope they make 327th troopers or genosis barc troopers.
I don't really mind having ten mace windu I can create with with the same body But different accessories or head character
Keep up the good work
If I get multiple of these windu sets, I think parts of his jedi tunic and armor can be used for custom minifigs but I dunno where it oculd be useful.
But yes, the battle tank is pretty overpriced, although maybe you can justify it by saying that the mace windu minifig is kinda unique? idk
“Commander lean” 😂😂
My parents don't want me to spend a lot of money, but I want to have a big army. What should I do?
