Her lyrics are always open for interpretation, making her music very popular among people from every walk of life. Her real name is Aurora Aksnes and she was 18 years old in this video from the winter of 2014-2015, and she is 27 now. She has released 3 albums and 2 EPs so far, and she writes all of her own music and lyrics.
Just 5 days after this music video premiered in March 2015, Katy Perry wrote on twitter "Finally. New music that makes my heart a flutter. Check this 17 yr old angel" with a link to the video. Billie Eilish has said several times that this music video inspired her a lot, when she watched it at the age of 13. First time she said it was March 2018, and last time Nov 2022 when Aurora won an award.
This song was used in a TikTok meme and went viral in March/April 2021 when it was 6 years old, and she made a Genius video on youtube explaining the lyrics. She said the lines "seeing a face in the sand" and "painting a picture of you" is about grieving over someone lost and seeing their face everywhere and trying to recreate it yourself in a painting. So it is about running away in grief until you have run so far, that you just want to go home.
She has said several times she wrote it originally at 11-12 (and finished it later at 18 before it was released), and in a 2019 article she said she lost her godfather at 11, so the song might be about grieving over him. But she never mentioned if she actually ran away from home.

Thanks for checking her out! She is my second favorite artist, after Angelina Jordan. They are both Norwegian. I am also Norwegian, but THAT is not the reason why I love them so much. They are both REAL artists, and they both have incredible voices. And they are both extremely down to earth. Incredible human beings, preaching the most important things in life.
Aurora is writing and composing all of her own music, and she is also choreographing all her videos herself. I promise you, Aurora is another artist WELL worth your time. Aurora is highly intelligent, and many of her most popular songs were written when she was 9 years old, like for instance her song called "Lucky". I will give you the links to two of her performances, both of them from the same concert here in Norway. It was recorded in Nidarosdomen, Norway's oldest and most beautiful cathedral. That whole concert is exceptionally beautiful. The two songs are "Through The Eyes Of A Child" (which happens to be my favorite by her 🙂 ) and "Lucky". Here goes :

Nice reaction, I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction. That is Aurora singing the vocal back up too, she usually does all the female vocals on studio/album songs. Aurora started writing music at a very young age and lyrics came very soon after. She had a very happy home life, but, the darkness she saw outside of her happy home life affected her to the degree that she wrote about it to get it out, it was her own personal therapy. She has a very large discography for you to explore. She has many sad songs, sometimes she has a more upbeat tempo to make them less sad, she is a lyrical genius IMO. She is not a cookie cutter mainstream artist, she is extremely authentic and unique. Her songs are thought provoking and they shine a light in the darkness of life. She is the Warrior Queen to her fans, Warrior and Weirdos. My favorite all time multi talented artist. Hope to see you soon on the next Aurora reaction.

Fun facts about the Runaway Music Video:
It was shot (as far as we know) during January 31 to February 2, 2015. She was 18 at this time. She wrote Runaway at the age of 11-12 and finalized it at the age of 14 (for a school project, as she mentioned in an interview).
The parts, where she wears the 'furry' top (it's actually sheep wool) are shot at the west coast of the Drange peninsula, less than a mile away from her parents house.
The parts in the forest were shot in the same forest where she played as a kid very close to her parents house.
The parts, in which she wears a thin white cardigan and with some trees in the near background and the island of Lysøya in the background, are shot actually in the backyard of her parents house in Drange.
She is very special and unique Artist. And she has a lot of great music written by herself. She wrote the song when was 11 years old (although she is around 18-19 in this video). And even she in from Norway she write song in English and the lyrics are great and written in poetic/metaphorical way. That is why her lyrics are also open for interpretation for listeners. You can check her original meaning in Genius video where she talk about this song. And there are no bad or good interpretation but her original meaning was a different phases of grief and about finding a soft place to fall in the meaning to fix your emotions and come in terms with this emotion.
There are so much great song but I would recommend lucky live in Nidarosdomen. But you can go wrong with other her songs too :).

Well, you've already a lot of infos about her. I will just add that in her tracks, she's her own backing vocalist. But hopefully you will react to some of her live performances, and see and mainly hear how can sound her vocals harmonizing with some of her musicians accompanying her (instead of pre-recorded backing vocals). I wouldn't say this song is representative of all what she does, because her music is really various, but you'll find always a lot of beauty, in a form or another.

Then I found this Artist a few years ago. Best Artist in a Generation.
Her lyrics are deep. She writes in a manner that Neil Peart( RUSH) and Neil Young do.
Seen her live ....was afraid to do so. Did not want to be disappointed. Best Vocal performance I ever seen...heard.
