Better give Franky his respect Saved Luffy from Saturn, saved Bonney from Saturn, didn't budge an inch in front of the Gorosei, was involved in the attack that sent Marcus Mars blasting off again. Fandom needs to look at more than fights to find feats.
3/4 seems a bit low, Kuma is probably 15/16 dead, and that last 1/16 is entirely love-rage for his daughter - even the Revolutionaries and government had no idea WTF was going on with him… Just a damn shame that, narratively, there can't be a real happy ending for Kuma except maybe to see Bonney thrive.

Combat-wise, it's definitely gotta be Luffy. Bro literally stood on business the whole arc, damn near holding off everyone. Iron Giant came in clutch for the save when things got dicey, so he gets an honorable mention. Story-wise, at least personally, it's my GOAT, Kuma. I've never cried so hard reading manga than I did during that flashback.
As one of the few sane Zoro stans, and I'm no where near a Sanji stan, but I think he deserved a few more points for blocking/kicking a Kizaru beam and blocking/kicking an attack from Gandi horse

Bonney was the heart of the arc Kuma was its soul And Luffy was the fists (still gotta give honorable mention to Nami though, she was in top form this arc )
Sanji deserves more special points. The amount of times he saved people, blocking lasers with his kicks, kicking blood out of Nusjuro when he came to attack, all the other saves, I would have at minimum given him 5. Brook deserves a special teams point for making an ice path for the Sunny. Franky saved Luffy, participated in the big attack against bird grandpa, and i think he saved Bonnie once too. And I personally hate Usopp, but he saved the Sunny with his plants before it crashed after its fall and deserves one special point Luffy also deserves more points. He held off Kizaru AND Saturn at the same time. Then held off all 5 Elders until the giants came to help back him up. Also the amount of hysterical things he did in Gear 5 (the goggles, the turning a tree into a baseball bat and getting a random paint bucket to color it, his interactions with Vegapunk, antagonizing the WG on the Snail call right after the mini time skip, he was just hilarious throughout). And he became a sort of mentor for Bonnie and helped bolster her moral and belief in herself, which is a major narrative point deserving moment in my opinion. At the end of the day, its your list so rank it how you choose, but it does feel like you overlooked a lot of things people did
10:04 nami also fried the Jinbei seraphim even though he recovered she still did that, and her and sanji were orchestrating everything to get everyone back to the ship so she deserves a special team point there for sure

There was that moment where nami chopper usopp and brook were defending robin from saint saturn, like they held him at bay until Saturn decided to just focus on vegapunks message
Nami yelling “Protect Robin!!” was my favorite Nami moment in the entire arc. Normally she’s a scaredy cat, but when it mattered most, she locked in and did whatever she could alongside Chopper, Usopp, and Brook to protect Robin from Saturn.
I always thought she'd have an important role, from when she turned up. The Supernovas tend to. Law did, Kidd did, Bege did. Drake represents something important even though he wasn't himself. Apoo and Hawkins are exceptions. I imagine Urouge will be important too whenever he re-emerges.
The absolute passion in your voice as you talk about kuma and bonnie. Theres so much joking and so many sillies in one piece and in its discussion on this channel, but i love how genuine and intense you got about those two. You embody the spirit of this series so well. Great vid!
6:50 I think the only thing, of note, Chopper did was go guard ooint to protect Robin while Spider Saturn was violating him from behind. He even had that, "Just take what you want and leave," expression in the panel😂❤
It's a minor shout out, but I do think that forgotten StrawHats (Nami, Usopp, Chopper and Brooke) get a moment for encountering Saturn, full demon spider-mode, spotting Robin with the "It's On Sight" and not one them didn't immediately react with "PROTECT ROBIN". Yes it was brief cause Saturn had other priorities but I do still commend them for recognizing the danger and going right into action to do whatever they could.
I really think zoro must’ve been feeling some aftereffects from Wano, like going from Thriller Bark and Sabody. He was just forcing himself to not spook his teammates with his health
We all know the MVP is Giant Robo! His flashback with joyboy is like the first time we see joyboy talk, and transferring haki into a knot is some whimsical pirate shit. Joyboy s haki being able to knock out all the enemies too, freaking chefs kiss.
He left out the scene with giant gear 5 luffy holding back Saturn and Kizaru at the same time which was just so cold. That's when he really felt like a Yonkou.
Frankies biggest moment in this arch was getting radical beam on Saturn in 1104 and I think that deserves some points. He was first to cause damage to elder to show their healing abilities.
Brook and Usopp should have special team points for, respectively, moving and stopping the Sunny and allowing for their escape Edit: Not to mention scrapping with Saturn, them + Chopper, Nami, and Robin deserve points

The Weakling Trio AND Brook deserve a Sp. Team+ for defending Robin from Saturn. It was the HARDEST panel any of them had in the entire arc (well… maybe after Nami’s stomp out) & they had it TOGETHER! I was so proud that a lone tear rolled down my cheek, fell, & soaked the entire page (screen). Chopper in Guard Point, Nami w/ the tackle-save WHILST blocking w/ Napoleon; Usopp, on his butt, BUT still cocked & loaded; Brook cold-cut a whole leg! F-in gorgeous❤ Then I remembered I HAVE NO IDEA WHY ROBIN WAS IN A DAMN GURNEY TO BEGIN WITH & I took my tear back. Great arc 👏🏾
The reason why Zoro fought Lucci for 12 chapters is because of his training with Mihawk, let me explain. Mihawk said to "not hunt rabbits with a canon" directly to Zoro. Zoro listened and proceeded to be the most unserious fighter within the strawhats. Here's how, during whiskey peak Zoro was only testing his new swords. Only using 3 sword style when Luffy decided to fight Zoro (because the editors wanted it). Since Zoro's training with Mihawk there has not been an arc where Zoro was being an unserious fighter. In Fishman island Zoro fought Hody Jones under water, which directly contradicts what he told Sanji during Arlong park, that being "don't fight a fishmen underwater, that's what what the fishman wants." During Punk hazard while the lab was flooding with a gas that would Boa Hancock people, Zoro just sits down to watch Tashigi fight Monet (objectively hilarious), only interfering when Monet is about to win. During Dressrosa when Zoro fights Pica for quite a bit until Pica threatens the lives of usopp and other civilians, forcing Zoro to get serious and one-shot Pica. During Wano specifically during the raid of Onigashima, Zoro was basically standing around until he saw a red scabbards arm fall from the roof, forcing Zoro to try and proceeds to one-shot Scrachman Apo, giving the antidote to Queens virus to chopper, and threatens Queen all in the course of two pages. Tldr: Zoro is a very unserious Fighter despite his very serious personality. Only trying when his friends are going to be hurt.
Also: I like to imagine that at some point during Wano when catching up with the other Straw Hats, Chopper told him the story about Luffy spending several hours having a training arc against Katakuri while everyone else was rushing to escape Big Mom's territory, and figured "hey, if it's good enough for the captain, it's good enough for me"
That's certainly what Zoro did in-story, BUT DID HE KNOW HE WAS DOING THAT?? My guess is no. Zoro just wanted to run the 1's with Lucci since he wasn't able to do it back at Enies Lobby - Luffy singled Robert out leaving Kaku The (awesome) Giraffe to Zoro
Franky was also in on the move that knocked Mars out of the battle. Swinging his metal fist alongside haki clad Bonney and Sanji was at least half point worthy.
Brooke allowed the Sunny to escape on an ice path he made and Usopp used his bamboo seeds to make the Sunny land safely. Their contributions were more subtle. Not worth a full point but they have to have their dues given. Also I love this point system, would love to see this style of show on other arcs as well. Sanji’s going to be getting a lot of those team points with Mr. Prince, destroying the innards of the Arc Maxim, half the stuff he did in Ennies Lobby, he’s too good for his own good.
Honestly, I think Oda forgot about Zoro v Lucci. Kept saying to himself, “I’ll wrap that up after this… and this… and this… oh and I can take care of this…”
Underappreciated goat of the Egghead is Sentomaru - the entire arc he was just straight up suffering whilst trying to do the right thing and he got bloody left behind when everyone bailed
You definitely should do all the other arcs. Or at least the major ones. Bonney was winning this 100%. But I also think she for sure gets the Goofy award. First she has to try to understand all the ramblings of a crack head explaining his powers. Her reaction to sanji and franky just going full blast and willing to attack luffy is so perfect. I do think franky should get a hype moment because he did save bonney and luffy a few times.
MVP is Kuma. The panel of him punching Saturn is it. That's the arc. All I needed was the scary guy from Thriller Bark and Sabaody punching Jerry Garcia in his spidery face, for being ungrateful for him being dead- after the most slapping twist flashback in the series, that recontextualizes the first half of the story outright.
I love this MVP style! I think remembering everything in a chapter is hard, but going through the crew and notable characters is a nice way to sum up an island. Would love to see more of these types for past and future arcs!
I would argue that Usopp gets a point or two for stopping the Sunny from flying off the edge of the Labophase early. If he wouldn't have done that, the Straw Hats would just all be dead. I would also give Luffy an extra point for his baseball match with the Gorosei, not just that, but the fact he even faced off against all five of the Elders at all is simply amazing.
The captain man deserves some team points for the big balloon thing that shot the bird old man out of the sky, tanking a ton of damage from the good guys and it looked like he also taught Bonney a little about Haki
Brooke's big contribution would be getting the Sunny off of the island. Everyone involved in the transportation of the Sunny could get a point but Brooke freezing the ground so they had a slide to keep on going should get a point. He was absolutely not gonna be the one stopping it though, as he jokes about.
ussop and chopper did something! they protected Robin when Saturn - an actual Gorosei member- suddenly appeared! Granted , Nami and Brooke were there, too
Ussop’s perspective to me is kinda hilarious. Imagine showing up on an island that you’re invited to only to have to survive life threatening fight after life threatening fight. Finally you get somewhere secure and you and your crew start making plans and out of nowhere the traitor turns you to stone. When you’re finally revived one of the first things that happens is an admiral goes out of their way to run from a fight with your captain just to choke you out. Like what could you have possibly done to get his attention? And when u actually have a chance to get out of harms way and let your formidable crew mates handle the real threats your hood icons pull up wanting all the smoke so you have to put yourself back in harms way to put on a front like you’re here for the smoke too. After all of these shenanigans go down you get hoisted up for the toast as if you’re one of the MVP’s
I dont know why people are shitting on Franky when he saved luffy from saturn and bonney from ethanbaron. Was the first strawhat to hurt an elder and was part of the group that sent mars flying. He also one shot a vice-admiral and was present for the big important moments.
Franky sanji Luffy and Bonnie should get an extra team point for the 4 way combo attack on the bird gorosa when they punched Luffy to hit that bird back sitting down on the couch. Plus that shows Bonnie and Franky had armorment haki

The Weakling Trio AND Brook deserve a Sp. Team+ for defending Robin from Saturn. It was the HARDEST panel any of them had in the entire arc (well… maybe after Nami’s stomp out) & they had it TOGETHER! I was so proud that a lone tear rolled down my cheek, fell, & soaked the entire page (screen).
Chopper in Guard Point, Nami w/ the tackle-save WHILST blocking w/ Napoleon; Usopp, on his butt, BUT still cocked & loaded; Brook cold-cut a whole leg! F-in gorgeous❤

The reason why Zoro fought Lucci for 12 chapters is because of his training with Mihawk, let me explain.
Mihawk said to "not hunt rabbits with a canon" directly to Zoro. Zoro listened and proceeded to be the most unserious fighter within the strawhats. Here's how, during whiskey peak Zoro was only testing his new swords. Only using 3 sword style when Luffy decided to fight Zoro (because the editors wanted it). Since Zoro's training with Mihawk there has not been an arc where Zoro was being an unserious fighter. In Fishman island Zoro fought Hody Jones under water, which directly contradicts what he told Sanji during Arlong park, that being "don't fight a fishmen underwater, that's what what the fishman wants." During Punk hazard while the lab was flooding with a gas that would Boa Hancock people, Zoro just sits down to watch Tashigi fight Monet (objectively hilarious), only interfering when Monet is about to win. During Dressrosa when Zoro fights Pica for quite a bit until Pica threatens the lives of usopp and other civilians, forcing Zoro to get serious and one-shot Pica. During Wano specifically during the raid of Onigashima, Zoro was basically standing around until he saw a red scabbards arm fall from the roof, forcing Zoro to try and proceeds to one-shot Scrachman Apo, giving the antidote to Queens virus to chopper, and threatens Queen all in the course of two pages.
Tldr: Zoro is a very unserious Fighter despite his very serious personality. Only trying when his friends are going to be hurt.
Also: I like to imagine that at some point during Wano when catching up with the other Straw Hats, Chopper told him the story about Luffy spending several hours having a training arc against Katakuri while everyone else was rushing to escape Big Mom's territory, and figured "hey, if it's good enough for the captain, it's good enough for me"
The only thing I remember Usopp doing was using his bamboo pop greens to halt the run-away Sunny but that was like in the background of a panel
I think Zoro was keeping Lucci from joining up with the Gorosei. He wasn't trying to fight Lucci. He was trying to stall him.

That's certainly what Zoro did in-story, BUT DID HE KNOW HE WAS DOING THAT?? My guess is no. Zoro just wanted to run the 1's with Lucci since he wasn't able to do it back at Enies Lobby - Luffy singled Robert out leaving Kaku The (awesome) Giraffe to Zoro
Franky was also in on the move that knocked Mars out of the battle. Swinging his metal fist alongside haki clad Bonney and Sanji was at least half point worthy.

Brooke allowed the Sunny to escape on an ice path he made and Usopp used his bamboo seeds to make the Sunny land safely. Their contributions were more subtle. Not worth a full point but they have to have their dues given.
Also I love this point system, would love to see this style of show on other arcs as well. Sanji’s going to be getting a lot of those team points with Mr. Prince, destroying the innards of the Arc Maxim, half the stuff he did in Ennies Lobby, he’s too good for his own good.

Underappreciated goat of the Egghead is Sentomaru - the entire arc he was just straight up suffering whilst trying to do the right thing and he got bloody left behind when everyone bailed

Bonney was winning this 100%. But I also think she for sure gets the Goofy award. First she has to try to understand all the ramblings of a crack head explaining his powers. Her reaction to sanji and franky just going full blast and willing to attack luffy is so perfect.
I do think franky should get a hype moment because he did save bonney and luffy a few times.
MVP is Kuma. The panel of him punching Saturn is it. That's the arc. All I needed was the scary guy from Thriller Bark and Sabaody punching Jerry Garcia in his spidery face, for being ungrateful for him being dead- after the most slapping twist flashback in the series, that recontextualizes the first half of the story outright.
I love this MVP style! I think remembering everything in a chapter is hard, but going through the crew and notable characters is a nice way to sum up an island. Would love to see more of these types for past and future arcs!

i gotta say luffy playing baseball against saturn was one of my favorite parts, that and turning him and kizaru into pizzas!
I would argue that Usopp gets a point or two for stopping the Sunny from flying off the edge of the Labophase early.
If he wouldn't have done that, the Straw Hats would just all be dead.
I would also give Luffy an extra point for his baseball match with the Gorosei, not just that, but the fact he even faced off against all five of the Elders at all is simply amazing.
Of course that Vice Admiral can fight he simply wouldn't be there if he couldn't. Put respect on Franky's name boi came in clutch.

The captain man deserves some team points for the big balloon thing that shot the bird old man out of the sky, tanking a ton of damage from the good guys and it looked like he also taught Bonney a little about Haki

Brooke's big contribution would be getting the Sunny off of the island. Everyone involved in the transportation of the Sunny could get a point but Brooke freezing the ground so they had a slide to keep on going should get a point. He was absolutely not gonna be the one stopping it though, as he jokes about.
ussop and chopper did something! they protected Robin when Saturn - an actual Gorosei member- suddenly appeared! Granted , Nami and Brooke were there, too

Ussop’s perspective to me is kinda hilarious. Imagine showing up on an island that you’re invited to only to have to survive life threatening fight after life threatening fight. Finally you get somewhere secure and you and your crew start making plans and out of nowhere the traitor turns you to stone. When you’re finally revived one of the first things that happens is an admiral goes out of their way to run from a fight with your captain just to choke you out. Like what could you have possibly done to get his attention? And when u actually have a chance to get out of harms way and let your formidable crew mates handle the real threats your hood icons pull up wanting all the smoke so you have to put yourself back in harms way to put on a front like you’re here for the smoke too. After all of these shenanigans go down you get hoisted up for the toast as if you’re one of the MVP’s

I dont know why people are shitting on Franky when he saved luffy from saturn and bonney from ethanbaron. Was the first strawhat to hurt an elder and was part of the group that sent mars flying. He also one shot a vice-admiral and was present for the big important moments.
Franky sanji Luffy and Bonnie should get an extra team point for the 4 way combo attack on the bird gorosa when they punched Luffy to hit that bird back sitting down on the couch. Plus that shows Bonnie and Franky had armorment haki
