  • Selah is a site-specific dance film that explores the intersections of faith, movement, and the human experience. This contemplative work, a continuation of Hanson's Sanctuary (2021), invites viewers to pause and reflect on the complexities of life through a spiritual lens. Against the backdrop of a worship space, Selah embodies the painful beauty of resilience and the search for meaning in the midst of hardship. It is a poignant reminder that even in the darkest valleys and highest hilltops, there is always a space to contemplate, to pause, and to find solace.
Selah is a dance in collaboration with the Reyes Organ and Choral Hall at The University of Notre Dame. It was choreographed by Professor Lindsey Hanson and student Kaleigh Estby, directed by Lindsey Hanson, filmed and edited by Jonny Yepez. The project was generously funded by the Nyenhuis Faculty Development Grant in the summer of 2024. The cast was comprised of Hope College dancers: Kaleigh Estby, Mackenzie Kellogg, Abby Mains, Isabelle Park, Sarra Lacour, and Shannon Rodriguez.
