Dom Sigalas, WONG, it does a sequencer, if it didn't have a sequence it would not be able to record parts audio or midi... I have loaded midi files into the the modx and it played all 16 parts or tracks using general midi2, you do not have to have a cubase Daw for it to record or play back midi and audio...
This is a great video.. even though Yamaha have now programmed a linear sequencer in modx 2.0 & montage. 3.0, its great to see a cubase video... but theres still no instrument definitions for eithermodx or montage

With the MIDI channel routing set for specific patches in the performance and these are routed to Cubasis, how would you recommend I can play other patches with the backing tracks I've recording in to Cubasis?

It will work with Logic just fine. Cubase unlocks some additional options though like MODX connect. Cubase AI that comes included also works on the Mac :)
Had my Atari hooked up to the Yamaha keyboard and use to like playing the music mods that came with warez disks. Use to load loads of midi files and playing through the Yamaha keyboard. Happy days apart from the Amiga where the dam chips would go. Denise Paula and fat Agnus.

I am seriously considering getting a MODX6 for studio and stage use: I play experimental music and like the idea of having a very strong FM synth as well as sample playback features. My MIDI question is: Is it possible to use MIDI CCs to control synth parameters inside MODX? I know I can attach a MIDI controller to the MODX, but can I assign external MIDI CC to synth params? Like, MIDI CC 15 controlling filter cutoff or LFO rate of an FM part? Thanks
And a very confusing one - now folks will think you get that DAW display on their synth! Just do a picture in picture. There plenty of space to fit it in - May also be better to cut to the iPad screen to show more detail... I understand the emphasis on Steinberg (Yamaha) software - but are there any other apps worth publishing a video for? I’ve tried GarageBand so far... seems ok. In Cubasis - can you record the patch settings for each channel? You mentioned live playing - this would help for creating a playlist using specific sounds and maybe effects etc etc?
Dom Sigalas i bought it because of that, be careful with the videos, at least make it clear cause everybody think looking at the video that Cubasis app is mirroring on the MODX screen. Otherwise you don’t need Cubasis to use the iPad.

Yes it can be done. Set your daw to be master clock. Arm the modx sequencer to record and start the sequence. modx will capture all incoming midi data.

I have downloaded Cubasis le 2.7 and it’s incredibile: software runs ondly in demo mode with my Montage the flagship of Yamaha. Otherwise it works with others Yamaha instruments less expensive!

Korg has this in the synth or pa series it self. that's why i'm selling my modx bcs that sequencer is terrible on the modx/montage and its a shame that the psr-s/sx has a better sequencer than this expensive plastic crap.
Having used sequencers on hardware synths before they can never ever beat a computer or a dedicated touch screen interface like the iPad and Cubasis. For me it’s so unintuitive and hard to use that it makes it unusable. Sorry you’re missing that feature though good luck with your sale!
@@DomSigalas A computer was and always is better. My point is if you pay that much money for a keyboard arranger or synth/workstation atleast put something useful in it!! It's easier to record on a casio keyboard that i'ts made for children than on the modx.
The MODX has a perfectly working pattern sequencer that is the best option for a hardware synth . Have you tried this? If you’re talking about midi editing then you’ve lost me I would never torture myself editing hundreds of midi events on a hardware synth :)
I think that editing the ipad screen on the modx screen is kind of decieving. There's no need for these kind of tricks by someone like you Dom.
He may be trying to give Yamaha a hint to just include Cubasis inside the synth.

Dom next update we need stem’s separation,clip gain make the sampler way better to chop samples add a vu meter for mixing and mastering.

The way the Yamaha/ Cubase template sets it up in Cubase 9 the KEYBOARD CTRL has to be (ON) on the MODX .

Glad this helped! Yes, Cubasis takes control of the on-board controllers (Local Off) so the tracks need to be enabled.

You can turn the flash off and even the light in settings.
